Summary

Maxim Desny was a high draft pick in the Season 1 Dispersal Draft yet was traded jut before the 1st season was underway. He was traded to the Helsinki Frostbite to become the teams GM. HIs career stats are nothing to scoff at going 144-169-18 with a 0.908 save percentage and a 3.26 G.A.A. These are not eye popping numbers but when you consider he spent most of his time rebuilding the Helsinki franchise which culminated in a Season 6 Continental Cup Victory. If I'm not mistaken he also played for 1 season in Toronto before calling it a career. He now holds a place in the Victory Hockey League for his dedication to the Helsinki team. Micheal Arsenault was a very solid depth player for teams who acquired him. He quietly played in 363 games, coring 38 goals and assisting on 156 goals for 194 points. He was also a -131 with 554 hots blocked. He was your prototypical defensive defenseman. Tommy Gunn is one of the guys who has probably one of the coolest names in VHL history. He played in 7 seasons in the VHL, playing 502 games, scoring 112 goals and assisting on 182 for 294 points. He almost broke the 300 point plateau. Most of his career was spent with the Titians before moving on as a free agent.

Jay Bris, who's player agent used to GM Helsinki was traded after the agent stepped down form his position. There was some hope that he could still turn out to be a great player but it was not to be. Bris would play in 213 games, scoring 73 goals and assisting on 73 for 146 points. He was a solid depth scoring but the hope was for more than that. Sam Lafleur is one of the early goalies who don't get much recognition as the others. He was pretty solid going 146-107-16 with a 0.897 save percentage and a 3.23 G.A.A. His stats are much on par with Desny except for the sub 0.900 ave percentage. Here is the kicker, the pick Helsinki traded, turned out to be 1st overall and Toronto was able to select legendary winger Christian Stolzschweiger. Stolzy finished his career 3rd all time in scoring before dropping down to 4th before finally being passed by Thomas O'Malley so no he sits 5th. He played in 574 games, scoring 449 (2nd most in VHL History) and assisting on 463 for 912 points. He ended up winning a Continental Cup in Season 7 but that wasn't with the Legion. Kyle Kane ended up playing in just 1 season with the Legion scoring 3 goals and assisting on 14 for 17 points.

Verdict

Helsinki won a Continental Cup in Season 6 with a team Kevin Brooks (Maxim Desny's player agent) put together with Desny in net. On the other hand, Stolzschweiger is on of the greatest players to ever play in the VHL. However Desny + HoF + Continental Cup > Toronto Stolzy. Helsinki wins.

Left Winger Steven Morin

Goaltender Sam Martin

Goaltender Ookie Mexico

Stockholm Thunder GMs: Chris Julien
Seattle Everblades GM: Joey Kendrick

Summary

Stevin Morin is one of those underrated scorers for his era. He was a solid depth player scoring 110 goals and assisting 185 for 295 points in 353 games. That's solid depth if you ask me. Sam Martin on the other hand wasn't with the Stockholm Thunder very long. Next week you will see why.

Ookie Mexico on the other hand played in only 29 games going 10-12-2 with a 0.882 and a 3.85 G.A.A.

Verdict

Basically Steven Morin for Ookie Mexico. Morin scored more goals than Mexico played in game. Enough said, Stockholm wins by a long shot.
