It was just over a season ago in the season thirty-four draft that promising rookie forward Mikey Blade was selected by the Seattle Bears sixth overall. After spending another full season in the VHLM on the Bern Royals, Blade went on to receive honors from his teammates and colleagues winning MVP for his respective season. While Blade was a dominating force in the VHLM both seasons he played, he never realized how hard the transition would really be from minor to major hockey, but reality quickly set in for the young gun. Playing a full season with the Bears, Blade soon came to the realization that his game needed a huge bump, only notching 63 points which put him sixth in rookie scoring. While others had more practice hours put in, they surely were outperforming him by a somewhat large margin. this needed to change.

Just minutes ago, Mikey Blade and his agent, former VHL player and GM Zack Gagnon managed to ink an extension with the Bears giving him a contract for the next two seasons. Included in this contract is a no trade clause which is used in both the respective seasons Blade stays with the club, and only he can waive it. The dollar amount of the contract is estimated to be worth $5,000,000 which puts the annual salary at $2,500,000. This is subject to change however if Blade can manage to obtain more practice hours over the course of each season. This was a decision based on the location and the preference of the team due to having history in the franchise.
