Guest
Question for anyone familiar with the situation in the Spengler cup. On Saturday Canada faced the Rochester Americans. Today Canada faces Geneve but Chris Mason (former Blues goaltender) got injured so they picked up Matt Hackett (Canadian) who plays for Rochester. How is it that a player can pretty much switch teams in the tournament. Also Rochester is playing in this tournament, does that mean the AHL had to re-schedule their whole league schedule because of that? RomanesEuntDomus 442
The Americans already eliminated so it won't really affect them, it will just be an extra day or two until Hackett is back in the US. And the Amerks won't play again until January 3rd so Hackett should still be back by the time they have their next game. And yeah, the AHL had to move some games around on their Schedule so that Rochester could play in the tournament. They knew about the invitation for quite some time now though so I don't think it was much of a problem. Higgins 3,618
Hackett is Canadian, and Rochester is eliminated, so they probably let Canada add him as an emergency backup due to Mason's injury. I like that they added an AHL team to the tourney. Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/3375-spengler-cup/#findComment-23280 Share on other sites
