Labatte winning defenseman Jeff Hamilton has started his sixth VHL season in Europe. This is the fist time Hamilton has played for a European team, bringing him a lot closer to his native England and his brothers currently in Germany. Despite going to free agency the past two years, this is also the first time Hamilton has left a team via free agency, having previously been traded by Seattle. The typical goal for Hamilton has been to win the Continental Cup and he believes the Reign have a good shot at that feat this season..

"I would like to play with my brothers before Phil's career ends. The problem was that I didn't feel like Cologne offered me much of an opportunity to win this year with the inactivity of their off-season. Perhaps we will look into that again next off-season or Phil and I can sign with the same team for his last year in the VHL," Hamilton said.
