TheLastOlympian07 2,388
Ah yes it is finally here, the last installment of the Season 1 VHL Dispersal Draft. The last team up is Vasteras IK. Round 1, 2nd Overall - Center Scotty Campbell Career Regular Season Stats: 577 GP | 600 G | 639 A | 1239 P Career Playoff Stats: 72 GP | 57 G | 73 A | 130 P Just by looking at those career stats you must know where this is going. Scotty Campbell is the best player in VHL history and no one can take that away from him. He has 600 goals and 639 assists for 1239 points. He is the only player in VHL history to break the 1000 points plateau. He was a instant Hall of Fame player and won 4 Continental Cups in Season 1, 4, 5 and 6. He played the equivalent of 1 VHL Regular Season in the playoff since he made runs to the finals so much (72 games played in playoffs). In those games, he scored 57 goals and assisted on 73 goals for 130 points. The crazy thing about this is that GM Lucas Tannahill traded Campbell in the Season 2 off-season! what is even more wild is that he was traded for the number 2 or 3 scorer in VHL history, Mike Szatkowski. Round 2, 9th Overall - Goaltender Matthew Pogge Career Regular Season Stats: 276 GP | 181 W | 65 L | 23 OTL | 0.909 SV% | 2.48 G.A.A | 17 SO | 0 A Career Playoff Stats: 32 GP | 17 W | 13 L | 2 OTL | 0.910 SV% | 2.76 G.A.A | 2 SO | 0 A Next up for Vasteras, they traded up to get 2nd overall when they originally had 8th overall, so in his snake draft they had 9th overall as well. They used it wisely taking Matthew Pogge. Pogge was the man who led the to back to back finals in Season 1 and Season 2. He had a career record of 181-65-23 with a 0.909 save percentage and a 2.48 G.A.A and 17 shutouts. He was pretty good in the playoffs too posting a record of 17-13-2 with a 0.910 save percentage and a 2.76 G.A.A with 2 shuouts. He was inducted into the Hall of fame the season after he announced his retirement. He is a one time Continental Cup Champion. 3rd Round, 24th Overall - Defenseman Dean McIntosh Career Regular Season Stats: 214 GP | 23 G | 111 A | 134 P Career Playoff Stats: 33 GP | 3 G | 15 A | 18 P Dean McIntosh was expected to be the franchise defenseman for Vasteras but he didn't end up nearly as good as hoped. He played in 214 games, scoring 23 goals and assisting on 111 goals for 134 points. Not a bad total but he was expected to not only produce more but play more games for the franchise. He did end up playing in 33 playoff games though, scoring 3 goals and assisting on 15 goals for 18 points which is a decent output. He stepped up when needed. He is also a Season 1 VHL Champion. 4th Round, 25th Overall - Right Wing Jonathan McKelvie Career Regular Season Stats: 213 GP | 157 G | 203 A | 360 P Career Playoff Stats: 23 GP | 14 G | 15 A | 29 P With the 25th overall pick, Vasteras went with Jonathan McKelvie who was a great scorer along side the great Scotty Campbell. In 213 games, he scored 157 goals and assisted on 203 goals for 360 points. A very good number. He also played in 23 playoff games, scoring 14 goals and assisting on 15 goals for 29 points. He was also apart of the team that won the Season 1 continental cup. I feel it is unfortunate he retired a bit prematurely because he was a good player who could have been great if he had stuck around. 5th Round, 33rd Overall - Defenseman Aaron Hill Career Regular Season Stats: 72 GP | 7 G | 20 A | 27 P Career Playoff Stats: 11 GP | 0 G | 2 A | 2 P Last and least was the former Second Baseman of the Toronto Blue Jays who tried his hand in hockey. He last just one season in Sweden before Vasteras cut him loose. He scored 7 goals and assisted on 20 goals for 27 points. He had 2 assists in 11 playoff games and in the end, he was a Champion. Conclusion: The First two picks were home runs, albeit Pogge didn't play as much games as you would want but he still ended up in the Hall of Fame due to great number despite the short career. He had a save percentage above 0.900 in an era which was dominated by scorers. Scotty Campbell too was a slam dunk and one has to wonder why he fell to 2nd overall. In the end, Jonathan McKelvie was great but just 3 seasons is not enough to warrant a spot on the hitlist. He played less than half the years you are allowed to play in the VHL (8 seasons). I feel you need to play at least 4 seasons to be considered a hit, but maybe that is just me. 1. Calgary Wranglers - 5/8 = 62.5% 2. Hamilton Canucks - 3/7 = 42.9% 3. Vasteras IK - 2/5 = 40.0% 4. Amstel Tigers - 3/8 = 37.5% 5. Helsinki Titans - 2/7 = 28.5% 6. Seattle Bears - 2/7 = 28.5% 7. Stockholm Thunder - 2/7 = 28.5% 8. Toronto Legion - 1/7 = 14.3% Edited November 15, 2016 by TheLastOlympian07 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/35265-claimed6-points-pls-part-8/ Share on other sites
