Smarch 3,193
Draft Day Approaches Ever Closer In the first edition of Draft Day that was released last week, we looked at what we believed would be the first four picks in the upcoming VHL Entry Draft. Although we didn’t have the order correct in terms of teams, we believe that the top four picks will remain the same. This week we’ll look at who remains in the deep prospect pool and dive into who we think will fall between picks five to eight. Round 1: 5. Stockholm Vikings (From Davos): Sami Zayn Stockholm will step up to the podium for a second time in the draft after seeing their lottery ball pop out of the machine at the second overall pick. Stockholm has holes in every part of their roster and will need a huge rebuild from the ground up, so a blue chip prospect would help that at this point of the draft. Zayn comes from an agency that has represented three good VHLers that all reached over the 640 practise hours, including four time VHL champion Marcel Faux. Zayn might need another season in the minors to help his development which won’t hurt the Vikings as they are a few seasons away from competing at this point. 6. Helsinki Titans (From Seattle): Conrad Jenkins The Titans will be stepping up to the podium for the second time as well with the Sixth Overall pick in the Season Fifty-Two VHL Entry Draft. We believe the Titans will look to Mongolia to select left winger Conrad Jenkins. Jenkins is currently playing for the Saskatoon Wild in the Founders Cup finals, after posting thirty-four goals and thirty-one assists in the regular season for the Wild. Jenkins comes from an agency that hasn’t had the best reputation of producing long lasting players in the league, but with every new players comes a new opportunity, one that the Titans will hope that will pay off in seasons to come. 7. Seattle Bears (From Cologne): Die Domi Domi hasn’t been making much public noise about his practise habits over the course of the past season and a half, but Domi has been progressing nicely with the Saskatoon Wild in his first full VHL season. Domi who came into the league advertised as a power forward hasn’t disappointed so far, as in the regular season Domi managed forty-three points and 239 hits. For most of the season Domi has been flying under the radar in terms of his own roster and the entire draft class, but Seattle will take the Canadian forward no doubt if he’s still on the board when they step up to the podium. 8. New York Americans (From Calgary): Austin Hickey V Another agency with a long history in the VHL, one that hasn’t always been the greatest, the Hickey agency is back at it with a prospect in the Season Fifty-Two VHL Entry Draft. The Houston, Texas native came out of the blocks like a man possessed when he first declared for the draft, but recently the youngster hasn’t been seen at practise for a few weeks. Despite all that he still carries tons of potential and that’s what the Americans will see and select him with the Eighth Overall pick. If Hickey can come back and tear up the practise scene before the upcoming draft he might not even be on the board when the Americans head to the podium. *For Snatch* Edited November 15, 2016 by Smarch Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/35276-draft-day-5-8/ Share on other sites
