Ah yes, the start of a new draft. This is going to be fun. In a few short days I will be rewarded a 2nd player, then these will just fly by and I will get the drafts done in oh I don't know years :P Anyway, the Amstel Tigers relocated to Russia (not a real team but this is where I'm sure it was supposed to be located) and became the Avangard Havoc.

Round 1, 5th Overall - Left Wing Jon Church @Zero

Career Reg. Season Stats: 291 GP | 114 G | 168 A | 282 P

Career Playoff Stats: 6 GP | 0 G | 3 A | 3 P

Jon Church was the first round pick of the new era in VHL Hockey as three teams underwent changes with Amstel/Avangard being the team with a new location. Church though, had a decent career but he just didn't pan out as some would have though. He played in 291 games scoring 114 goals and assisting on 168 goals for 282 points in his career. I can't remember exactly how long he spent in Avangard but I am also pretty certain he left near the end of his career. He played on many losing teams as his 6 career playoff games can attest too. He had 0 goals and 3 assists in those 6 games. The player agent himself though, would move on to bigger and better things with his next player though.

Round 4, 26th Overall (via Hamilton Canucks) - Goaltender Josh Wilson

Career Reg. Season Stats: 50 GP | 18 W | 19 L | 4 OTL | 0.879 SV% | 3.84 G.A.A | 1 SO | 0 A

Career Playoff Stats: 1 GP | 0 W | 0 L | 0 OTL | 1.000 SV% | 0.00 G.A.A | 0 SO | 0 A

The Havoc had to wait all the way until the 4th round to make another selection and they took goaltender Josh Wilson. Josh Wilson didn't pan out and he played in only 50 games going 18-19-4 with a save percentage of 0.879 and a 3.84 G.A.A. He did manage 1 shutout though so there is that. He also played in just 1 playoff game going 22 minutes in relief action. He didn't allow a goal so there is that.

Round 4, 30th Overall (via Seattle Bears) - Defenseman Mac Bowes

Career Reg. Season Stats: 286 GP | 27 G | 105 A | 132 P

Career Playoff Stats: N/A

With their 2nd pick of the 4th round, the Havoc took defenseman Mac Bowes who was a solid 4/5 defenseman. He played in 286 games scoring 27 goals and assisted on 105 goals for 132 points. He was a 3 for them for many years during his career before he retired around S5 or S6 before the Havoc were a good enough team to make the playoffs because he never played a game in the playoffs.

Round 5, 37th Overall - Goaltender Patrice Roydeur

Career Reg. Season Stats: 262 GP | 95 W | 123 L | 23 OTL | 0.910 SV% | 3.42 G.A.A | 5 SO | 0 A

Career Playoff Stats: 6 GP | 2 W | 2 L | 2 OTL | 0.933 SV% | 3.06 G.A.A | 1 SO | 0 A

With their last pick, the Havoc went a different route taking another goalie thinking quantity of quality. Here the plan worked as Royduer was a solid goalie for the Havoc. He played in 262 games going 95-123-23 with a 0.910 save percentage and a 3.42 G.A.A. When you factor in the Havoc were not a very good team many years which the record and G.A.A cant attest too, he was solid nonetheless with a sparkling 0.910 save percentage when forwards ruled the league. He played in one playoff series in his career going 2-2-2 with a 0.933 save percentage and a 3.06 G.A.A with 1 shutout.

Overall:

The Avangard Havoc did not start their new era off well going 1/5 on draft picks. The only hit was late round gem Patrice Roydeur. Jon Church could have been something more had he stuck it out in his career but it is what it is.

Season 2 Draft:

:avn:1. Avangard Havoc - 1/5 = 20%

All-Time Team Drafts:

:ams::avn:4. Amstel Tigers/Avangard Havoc = 4/13 = 30.8%

All Time Drafts:

Season 1: 20/36 = 35.7%

Season 2: 1/5 = 20%
