With the 14th pick in the S52 VHL Entry Draft, the Stockholm Vikings select Die Domi, forward.

That was the start of Die Domi's VHL career. Domi was the 14th pick of the draft, but he was actually the 12th player selected, due to picks 12 and 13 being void, resulting in the Americans and Titans not making selections at those picks. The first pick of the draft was a foregone conclusion, with Phil Shankly going to the New York Americans, and rightfully so. Shankly was the consensus #1 selection, but most of the rest of the draft was up in the air among some of the top experts. The Stockholm Viking would select Rhett DeGrath second overall, taking the first goalie off of the board and determining who they hope will be their netminder for the foreseeable future.

The third pick of the draft belonged to the Quebec City Meute, and they selected Fabio Jokinen, a defenseman. Jokinen was far and away the best defenseman available and if that was Quebec's biggest need entering the draft, they made a solid pick. The next pick was Daryl Dorth, taken by the Helsinki Titans. Stockholm made their second selection, Lee King Snatch, at 5th, followed by Helsinki's 2nd selection, Sami Zayn. Quebec followed by selecting a lifetime backup goaltender, Edwin Threencarnacion at 7th. New York selected Grigory Kopralkov, who they've since traded to Riga. Cologne drafted Alexander Thrower automatically at 9th, due to the GM rule. Stockholm selected Conrad Jenkins and Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVII with the 10th and 11th picks before selecting Domi at 14th.

Die Domi was passed over by three teams, New York, Quebec and Helsinki. All three of those teams had two chances to select him and elected for other decisions. Stockholm, the team that eventually selected Domi, took him after making four other selections ahead of him as well. Does Domi feel slighted? Slightly. Get it? Yeah, I'd so a little bit. Domi has perhaps shown that with his work ethic since the draft, which he entered with 91 practice hours. He has since put in 116 hours of work, bumping him to 207 total. His 116 that he has put in since the draft is more than he entered the draft with, which is usually unheard of. Granted, Domi was never one to update his practice totals much during his time in the VHLM, he clearly had been putting in the work all along. Here are Domi's thoughts on those selected ahead of him:

New York | Phil Shankly - An understandable pick, the clear number one. Unphased.

Stockholm | Rhett DeGrath - The clear goalie favorite in this draft, given that the team is in a rebuild, a respectable choice. Not offended.

Quebec | Fabio Jokinen - Depending on positional need, solid pick. This really comes down to preference between defender or forward.

Helsinki | Daryl Dorth - This is the first pick that I think would've clearly been more effective if it had been used on Domi. There is a chance that Helsinki and their GM think that I'm being serious when I give them a hard time about one of their players, Black Velvet, but otherwise there isn't a lot of reason for selecting a winger other than Domi here.

Stockholm | Lee King Snatch - An understandable pick given the GM and player agent's past history and a similar situation between Snatch and Domi, but obviously I favor myself. A miss for the Vikings.

Helsinki | Sami Zayn - Missing Domi once for another forward was bad, but this is downright insulting. If you wanted BPA here, this was a blown pick.

Quebec | Edwin Threencarnacion - Can you ever convince Edwin to be a real player in the VHL? If not, in terms of player value on the ice, this is a blown and horrible pick for the rebuilding Meute.

New York | Grigory Kopralkov - They've already traded Grigory, so obviously this is a horribly blown pick for New York, who could've had Domi.

Stockholm | Conrad Jenkins - Another winger taken ahead of Domi, another failed selection.

Stockholm | Aeeudhdjsokowkj Jiejijiegglesjjawjns CCXXOOISU - Just on simplicity of typing the name for the roster, this was a terrible pick.

In short, Domi now has a lot of people to prove wrong and a bar has been set for his career goals and who he will be benchmarking himself against
