ROUGH CHILDHOOD, EMOTIONAL TURMOIL

This time of the year, Finland is very cold and the citizens are usually inside their households, and that’s how Apollo was introduced into the world. His parents had no power, they had no heat, there was just a sudden rush of passion, and the rest was history. His childhood was very good, as his parents were well off to say the least. His father was a very big lawyer in Helsinki, his mother was a Nurse at the local hospital. Both were very well respected, at times his father however did not get all of the praise he should, because despite being a great lawyer, he was reputable for helping some of the worst criminals get off of their sentences, or at least greatly reduces. Unfortunately, this is where the tale of a great man would take a turn, at the young age of four Apollo would watch his father be gunned down by an upset family member of a woman whom had been kidnapped and her remains unfound to this day. This would put Apollo into a very downward spiral and it was showing in the way of temper tantrums and emotional outbursts no matter where his now single mother would take him. As he grew up, Apollo would instead become somewhat emotionless, instead of acting out, he would go to school and be very quiet thus not allowing him to interact with any of his classmates and eventually become a social outcast. Even at the young age of eight, he was not showing much developmental growth when it came to the social aspect of things, instead he was still doing the opposite. The lingering thoughts of his father’s death haunted him, and it was going to make him do things that he didn’t want to do, but that was all about to change.

 

GO FINNISH FLASH…GO

Some people found comfort in certain things, and flash forwarding to junior year for Apollo, things seemed to be looking a lot differently than they did in his younger years. Apollo went to a lot of Anaheim Duck games as he visited America a lot with his travelling mother. Each time he went, he’d have a special place in his heart for none other than his idol and fellow Fin, Teemu Selanne. Selanne was known to many as the ‘Finnish Flash’ and this was something that one day, Apollo may want to become, but he still had that pent-up anger, he wanted a way to release it, and thus he began to train on one thing, and one thing only. He began to put a hockey net in front of his garage each day after school, and practice his wristshots and slapshots repeatedly. He would practice for hours upon hours, he would skip meals and he would make sure that he timed his shot perfectly. After a while, he would begin to test against dummy opponents, putting various things in certain ways to make it look like he was shooting against a goalie. He wanted to push himself further, he tried shooting from different angles and would even take long-range shots in order to improve his overall knack from shooting at different areas of what would eventually be an actual rink. Despite his grades being good in school, Apollo was rarely seen around school longer than he had to be, all of his time would now be focusing in a rink where he would wear number eighteen, which would mark the day his father was taken away from him, as a way to honor his father watching down on him. His high-school years went by quickly, and scouts began to notice the play of Apollo who would play for both his local hockey team and his school hockey team. They noticed him so much so, that he became an instant “want” per say by many of the hottest VHLM hockey teams. As the saga continued, we arrive to the current day, where Apollo was set to make his debut in one of the biggest opportunities of his lifetime.

 

 

BIGGEST DECISION, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

As we stated earlier, a lot of people highly scouted Apollo, so much so that many people thought he could go fairly high in the upcoming draft. However, they wouldn’t have to wait a whole season to see him play, as he would be allowed to sign with a team of his choosing for the current year, due to his entry into the VHLM at that point. After being persuaded by pooping general managers and being promised the world and lots of playing time by almost every general manager available, he decided it was time to go to another foreign part of the world, the Yukon Territories. After hearing so much about just how reputable the team was, and how many championships they had been able to amass, it was hard to pass-up the offer that was being tossed his way. Despite Streetlight, the current GM not being on the toilet while making his offer, the top six minutes, and opportunity to be on a growing team was the strong point to the deal. No matter where Apollo goes in this upcoming draft, it won’t matter to him as the present time is the most appealing thing to him now. He won’t care about the upcoming draft until he does something spectacular this season, so expect a lot of goals to be scored in his favor.
