North American Rat Race

:nya:New York Americans (3rdPlace- 86 Points)::nya:

The New York Americans were a very active team last year during the season and into the off-season and it is paying off wonderful for the club. With six players on their roster that didn’t play for the team in Season Fifty-One, General Manager Ryan Power seemed to make the right moves over the course of the off-season to make his club an instant contender. The offense has been the key to success in New York this season for the Americans as they currently have the number one and number two scorers on the team in Unassisted and Tom Lincoln.  Unassisted has been able to put up forty-six goals and sixty assists in the Americans fifty-four games this season, while Lincoln has put up the same forty-six goals while adding fifty-three assists in the teams fifty-four games. While the offense has been stellar for the Americans this season, one area of concern that may pop up for the club down the stretch run and into the playoffs is the inexperience they have in goal. Ilya Kopralkov was brought over from Riga to be the man in the blue paint for the team this season and while he sits third in the league with thirty-four wins, his save percentage of .915 is second worst in the entire league. With six games remaining on the schedule against the Wranglers, the Americans could find themselves in a second place fight the final two games of the season.

:tor:Toronto Legion (4th Place- 75 Points)::tor:

The Legion are the final team in North America who are in on the playoff race in Season Fifty-Two, but their playoff hopes seems to be slipping away as the season get further along. The aging Legion were hoping for another Continental Cup run this season as they went out and grabbed the Hamilton brothers Phil and Jeff in free agency, adding to the impressive offensive core they built over the past seven seasons. The Legion are of course led up front by the dynamic duo that is Max Mølholt and Zach Parechkin, but the team recently went out and acquired John Sleeman from the Cologne Express prior to the leagues trade deadline last week. Sleeman comes into the Legion lineup as the teams’ leading scorer right off the bat as he managed forty-six goals and forty-seven assists in fifty games he played with Cologne. If the offense can find consistent scoring from different areas, the team might be able to sneak into the playoffs due to their strength in net in Greg Clegane. Arguably one of the best goalies in the entirety of the VHL, Clegane gives the Legion the chance to win each and every night and this season has been no different as Clegane has put up thirty-five wins, a .926 save percentage, and 1.72 goals against average in fifty-six games for the Legion this season. With only four games remaining against the teams in front of them, the Legion are going to need some help from other franchises to make it back to the post-season
