S53 VHL Draft: Goalie Rankings

With the S53 VHL Draft approaching we have quite the Draft Class emerging. A big part of that Draft Class is the battle between eligible netminders looking to find homes in the big leagues. There are four standout goalies who are cementing their roles as starters in the VHLM and are a big part of why their teams are near the top. While VHL needs for goaltenders are unclear, these guys are hoping to be called upon early.

#1 Rubber Band - Bratislava Watchmen

Practice Hours: 152

Considered the top prospect of the bunch, Rubber Band has helped his team to first place in the VHLM standings and hopes to stay there. While his statistics aren't the best in the league, his potential is outstanding and his game looks good. Experts agree that his lack of shots against hurts his statistics and development and he needs to see more action. He'll need to step it up to cement his status as the number one goalie prospect!

#2 mist4ake - Yukon Rush

Practice Hours: 130

No his name is not a mistake, mist4ke is the real deal! Statistically he's been the best this season and has a realistic shot at overtaking Rubber Band as #1 if he can keep it up. He owns the league's best save percentage on the fourth best team so clearly could use some help in front of him. Quite the opposite of Band's status.

#3 Chet Manley - Saskatoon Wild
Practice Hours: 68

A month ago you hadn't heard of this guy, now he's starting for the league's third best team in Saskatoon. Manley continues to improve his game but statistically has been inconsistent. Many are shocked he has taken the starting job from OLPM but management feels he's earned it and scouts see something in the kid. Unlikely he goes ahead of the two above him but he could be a nice steal in the draft.

#4 Jacob - Ottawa Lynx

Practice Hours: 73

Experts aren't sure how but Jacob is having a great season in Ottawa. Scouts aren't sold on the kid yet as they feel his game is far from complete and he benefits a lot from the team in front of him. Still, Jacob serves as a solid option for a VHL team in need of a future netminder once the top two are gone. Jacob ranks number two statistically in save percentage but has failed to help his team win a lot of games as they sit in fifth spot.

We'll be sure to review again just before the draft to see if anything changes so keep an eye out! VHL teams are so lucky to have such a great draft class for goaltending - hopefully they need them!
