TheLastOlympian07 2,388
Ah yes, the move into the Season 3 VHL Entry Draft. This draft is only a 3 round draft so it should fly by pretty fast. The first team up is the Amstel/Avangard fake location franchise. 1st Round, 2nd Overall: Center Mike Szatkowski Career Reg. Season Stats: 573 GP | 434 G | 537 A | 971 P Career Playoff Stats: 43 GP | 18 G | 31 A | 49 P There wasn't many hits through 24 picks but even the Avangard Havoc couldn't miss at 2nd overall with Mike Szatkowski. The man is 2nd overall in VHL Scoring History with 573 games played, 434 goals scored, 537 assists and 971 points. He has also played in 43 playoff games, scoring 18 goals and assisting on 31 goals for 49 points. He won a Continental Cup in his last season which was in Season 9 with the Toronto Legion. He was promptly inducted into the Hall of Fame as soon as his career was over. 1st Round, 8th Overall (via Calgary Wranglers): Goaltender Fernando Garcia Career Reg. Season Stats: 198 GP | 112 W | 65 L | 8 OTL | 0.908 SV% | 3.05 G.A.A | 10 SO | 0 A Career Playoff Stats: 18 GP | 7 W | 8 L | 2 OTL | 0.905 SV% | 3.71 G.A.A | 1 SO | 0 A With the last pick in the 1st round, Avangard selected who they thought would be their goaltender of the future. Garcia though, did not live up to expectations. He did have a decent career though posting a record of 112-65-8 with a 0.908 save percentage and a 3.05 G.A.A. He also posted 10 shutouts which is 1 every 11.2 wins. As you can see he had very good stats but a lack of practice did him in as he could have been so much more. 2nd Round, 9th Overall (via Seattle Bears): Right Wing Ned Louvencourt Career Reg. Season Stats: 432 GP | 67 G | 87 A | 154 P Career Playoff Stats: 4 GP | 0 G | 1 A | 1 P The 2nd of 3 back to back ot back picks was Ned Louvencourt who was nothing more than a 3rd line player who provided depth. He played in 432 games scoring 67 goals and assisting on 87 goals for 154 points. As you can see the offense wasn't there that much but he did his job as a 3rd line filler. 2nd Round, 10th Overall: Right Wing Cody Mulcahy Career Reg. Season Stats: N/A Career Playoffs Stats; N/A 3rd Round, 18th Overall: Defenseman Maxim Helminen Career Reg. Season Stats: N/A Career Playoff Stats: N/A With the 10th and 18th picks, Avangard missed because these two players did not play a single game in the VHL. Verdict There was only one hit here and that was Mike Szatkowski who is the VHL's 2nd all time leading point getter. Garcia had so much potential and Ned was just Ned a 3rd line banger.
