TheLastOlympian07 2,388
It's pretty cool to say that we are already halfway through this draft class. Seattle won the right to pick 1st overall after a disastrous 2nd season in the VHL. They made 6 selection, 3 of them coming in the 1st round. Round 1, Pick 1: Defenseman Patrice Reynaud Career Reg. Season Stats: 506 GP | 151 G | 443 A | 594 P Career Playoff Stats: 33 GP | 11 G | 26 A | 37 P Patrice Reynaud became the first defenseman to be drafted 1st overall in the history of the VHL. Patrice was a very good defenseman playing in 506 games, scoring 151 goals , assisting on 443 goals for 594 points. It's always sad to see guys retire with goals, assists or in this case points in the '90's' because they were so close to the next milestone. Reynaud needed just 6 more points to reach 600 in his career. He also played in 33 playoff games, scoring 11 goals and assisting on 26 goals for 37 points. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame after his career was over and was a back to back Continental Cup Champion in Season 4 and Season 5. Round 1, Pick 4 (via Hamilton): Goaltender Adrian McCreath Career Reg. Season Stats: 336 GP | 220 W | 88 L | 23 OTL | 0.919 SV% | 2.74 G.A.A | 15 SO | 0 A Career Playoff Stats: 42 GP | 25 W | 13 L | 4 OTL | 0.912 SV% | 3.04 G.A.A | 1 SO | 0 A With the 4th overall pick, Seattle went with goaltender Adrian McCreath who went on to post one of the best winning percentages in a VHL career. He retired with a record of 220-88-23 and a 0.919 save percentage with a 2.74 G.A.A and 15 shutouts. What surprises me the most is his relatively low shutout numbers despite playing on some very great teams. Oh well, the VHL landscape was much different back then. He also played in 42 playoff games posting a record of 25-13-4 with a 0.912 save percentage and a 3.04 G.A.A with 1 shutout. He too won back to back Continental Cups in Season 4 and Season 5. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame after his career was over as well. Round 1, Pick 5 (via Avangard, via Stockholm): Right Wing Dust'n Funk Career Reg. Season Stats: 504 GP | 299 G | 402 A | 701 P Career Playoff Stats: 50 GP | 28 G | 34 A | 62 P With back to back 1st round in the 4 and 5 slot (seems like destiny and foreshadowing as they won in Season 4 and Season 5), the Bears selected Dust'n Funk with the 5th overall pick. How did such a player fall to 5th overall? Well two of his teammates were taken ahead of him and were positions of need so that's understandable, then Mike Szatkowski the 2nd highest point getter in VHL history went 2nd while a very good player went 3rd in Daric Radmonovic. Dust'n Funk played in 504 games, scoring 299 goals and assisting on 402 goals for 701 points in his VHL career. He also played in 50 playoff games, scoring 28 goals and assisting on 34 goals for 62 points. He won a Continental Cup in Season 4 and Season 5 and was inducted to the Hall of Fame like his two teammates. Round 2, Pick 14 (via Toronto): Right Wing Koko Wanatabi Career Reg. Season Stats: 145 GP | 15 G | 25 A | 40 P Career Playoff Stats: N/A The Bears used the picked acquired via Toronto to take Koko Wanatabi who only played in 145 games, scoring 15 goals and assisting on 25 goals for 40 points. Not as good as the first 3 draft picks for the Seattle Bears. He never even played in a single playoff game. Round 3, Pick 17: Left Wing Jussi Hanninen Career Reg. Season Stats: N/A Career Playoff Stats: N/A Round 3, Pick 24 (via Calgary): Goaltender Ikben Groot Career Reg. Season Stats: N/A Career Playoff Stats: N/A The last two picks Seattle made never played a single game. Season 3 Draft 1. Helsinki Titans - 2/2 = 100% 2. Calgary Wranglers - 1/2 = 50% 3. Seattle Bears - 3/6 = 50% 4. Avangard Havoc - 1/5 = 20% 8. Hamilton Canucks - 0/0 = ERR All Time Team Drafts: 1. Calgary Wranglers - 9/13 = 69.2% 2. Hamilton Canucks - 6/13 = 46.1% 3. Seattle Bears - 6/17 = 35.3% 4. Vasteras IK - 3/9 = 33.3% 5. Helsinki Titans - 4/12 = 33.3% 6. Toronto Legion - 4/12 = 33.3% 7. Amstel Tigers/Avangard Havoc = 5/18 = 27.7% 8. Stockholm Thunder/Rams - 4/15 = 26.7% All Time Drafts: Season 1 Draft: 20/56 = 35.7% Season 2 Draft: 14/40 = 35% Season 3 Draft: 7/15 = 46.7% Baozi 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/37116-claimed6-points-pls-part-21/ Share on other sites
