Here are some players who were drafted pretty highly but apparently should not have been:

• Unassisted, the highest average pick, ranks 18th in fantasy points
• Shawn Muller, the third highest average pick, ranks 32nd in fantasy points
• Jakab Holik, the seventh highest average pick (first among goalies), ranks 33rd in fantasy points (seventh among goalies)
• Lee King Snatch, the fifth highest average defenseman pick, ranks 27th out of the 30 defensemen

 

A little more on defensemen.. the 4th best in fantasy points is Shaka. David Hamilton is fifth. Neither of these two were drafted at all, which shouldn't really come as a surprise (though Hamilton wouldn't necessarily have been an unimaginable pick later on in a draft). Fabio Jokinen ranks third overall and is the number one defenseman, which should not really be a surprise to anyone. He's the only defensemen on a team that only has five skaters, so of course he's going to block a lot of shots.

 

Jim Lahey was drafted 4th overall in the Group D draft, and 8th in Group G. Groups A and E left him undrafted. Travis Gowecny went undrafted in 7 of 9 drafts and was 8th overall in Group H. Tyson Kohler went top ten in 6 of 9 drafts (top 15 in two more), but went entirely undrafted in Group F.
