Name: Rusty Trombone

Height: 6'0''

Weight: 175 lbs

Position: Left-Wing

Handness: Left

Hometown: Sheffield, England

Born in the metropolitan borough of Sheffield, England, Trombone was attracted to hockey almost as soon as he could stand thanks to the history behind the Stanley Cup being tied to Sheffield. Born to parents that were more into soccer than hockey, Trombone was the first to really introduce the sport to his family. Trombone stepped on the ice to play his first season of hockey at age five, but even though Trombone was on the ice from an early age, he didn’t always have the easiest time to the time of his hockey game. Trombone looks to come into the VHL as a top prospect, but knows nothing comes easy in this game.

:vhl:Pros::vhl:

Skating – If you ask Trombone about the best part of his game, this would be the area he would bring up. Trombone took power skating lessons even before he strapped on any hockey equipment. , Trombone is always working on his skating, he’s the first person on the ice each practise and the last person to leave the ice. Trombone believes his style of skating will translate very well, as the VHL has always been dominated by smooth skaters with great hands.

Puck Handling – Another aspect that fits fairly well with skating is the hands that Trombone possesses. Trombone has amazing skills when he gets the puck on his stick, dangling players out of their jocks night in and night out. If you ever attend a practise that involves Trombone, you’ll notice he’ll set up pylons at one point and time, and he’ll stick handle through those pylons over and over. Some scouts point out that Trombone doesn’t often lose then puck even with the high amount of fancy stick work he does each game, something that has taken years of practise to nail down

Scoring – Every hockey player that grows up at one point and time wants to be the man to light the goal light each night, but Trombone has really gone out of his way to work on his scoring touch. Trombone is always on the ice early as previously stated, and one of the things he does during his extra ice-time is fire 100 pucks at the net. This volume allows Trombone to work on everything and anything his heart desires with his shot. This tactic seems to have worked well for Trombone as he seems to be near the top of his team in the scoring race.

:vhl:Cons::vhl:

Discipline - Each player that straps on the skates must realize the last place you want to find yourself is the penalty box. Trombone still hasn’t woken up to that fact just yet as the young Englishman has a temper that gets him in trouble more times than not. The best way to describe Trombone is he is a hot head, and will need to tone it down if he wishes to be successful in professional hockey.

Leadership – Trombone has always been one of the youngest guys on his respective hockey clubs, something that has led to him never really be the one to have to stand up and say anything inside the locker-room. Also his bad temper gets in the way of his best intentions even when he tries to lead by example by yelling at the referee on a poor call. Some seasons around quality VHL veterans will likely do Trombone wonders.

Checking – Never known for his physical game, Trombone looks out of place when he goes to give a hit that doesn’t come along the boards. Hitting has never been a focus of his game while learning the craft over in England, which in turn lead to Trombone looking past that aspect of his game. Now coming to the VHL, which is more physical than his previous hockey stints, Trombone might be in for a world of hurt.
