TheLastOlympian07 2,388
We are reaching the home stretch of the Season 5 draft. Now we move on to Helsinki who made 4 draft picks in the draft. Round 1, Pick 2: Right Wing Branden Snelheid Career Reg. Season Stats: 432 GP | 300 G | 361 A | 661 P Career Playoff Stats: 46 GP | 24 G | 25 A | 49 P With the 2nd overall pick, the Titans took Branden Snelheid which looking back, was the right choice to make, except maybe taking Devon Marlow-Marta but you couldn't go wrong with either or. Branden played in 432 games, scoring 300 goals and assisted on 361 goals for 661 points which is a pretty amazing total considering the amount of games he played. If that isn't enough to wow you we can take a look at his playoff stats of 24 goals and 25 assists in 46 games to go along with Continental Cup wins in Season 6 and Season 9 as further proof to show you that Snelheid was the real deal. He was inducted into the VHL Hall of Fame shortly after his career had ended. Round 2, Pick 10: Left Wing Alex Carter Career Reg. Season Stats: 576 GP | 110 G | 206 A | 316 P Career Playoff Stats: 24 GP | 3 G | 3 A | 6 P With the 10th overall pick, Helsinki took winger Alex Carter who played the full 8 seasons you are allowed in a VHL career so that is pretty good in itself as a 2nd round pick when history tells us that you need to be a 1st rounder to do such a thing. He also scored 110 goals and assisted on 206 goals for 316 points. He had a very good regular career during his time but struggled a bit during the playoffs as he played in 24 games scoring 3 goals and assisting on 3 goals for 6 points. Not the same output he has had in the regular season, but a pretty good career nonetheless. Round 3, Pick 18: Right Wing Patrick Mueller Career Reg. Season Stats: 286 GP | 70 G | 75 A | 145 P Career Playoff Stats: 11 GP | 0 G | 2 A | 2 P With the 3rd round pick, 18th overall, Helsinki came up and took Patrick Mueller. He played in 286 games, scoring 70 goals and assisting on 75 goals for 145 points. He was a very good depth player in his career who created some offence from the 2nd or 3rd line. He also played in 11 playoff games, assisting on 2 goals for 2 points. Overall pretty decent for a 18th overall pick but not a hit by any means, Round 4, Pick 26: Center Jonathan Hagstrom Career Reg. Season Stats: N/A Career Playoff Stats: N/A Hagstrom never played a game in the VHL. Verdict Snelheid was a pretty obvious hit, Carter though I will say was a hit too, he wasn't a homerun like Snelheid but he was more like a single. Season 5 Draft 1. Hamilton Canucks - 3/5 = 60% 2.
