Draft Closes In For Luca Volkov

After signing with the Yukon Rush at the halfway point of the season, the draft is finally around the corner for Season 54 draftee Luca Volkov. Although he hasn't had the most productive season in the VHLM he contributed a lot of minutes towards a Yukon Rush team that managed to make it to the Founder's Cup finals before being swept out by the powerhouse Ottawa Lynx. Thus far Volkov has only managed to be projected as a late 2nd round pick or possibly even falling into the 3rd round. When asked about it in an interview after the Game 4 loss against Ottawa, Volkov had this to say:

Well, my father was a VHL player and he was taken late in his draft as well so I don't really mind the fact that I'm projected to go so late because it's really what you do after the draft as opposed to before. I'm just happy to be in the mix and I'll be glad to go wherever. I grew up in Davos and going to Dynamo games because of my father obviously and got to see some legendary battles with those teams. But that doesn't mean I'm dying to play for the Dynamo, again I'll be happy to play wherever and just get the shot to beat out my dad's numbers.
