:vhllogo:Veteran Corner:vhllogo:

Another week has come and gone in the VHL since the last edition of Veteran Corner, when the magazine article went rouge and found itself a home outside the normal VHL magazine. Once again we’ll go through the usual weekly routine here and quickly talk up some veteran players around the league that are either tearing it up, or playing below the norm. Without further hesitation here is our weekly article.

After winning three straight championships to begin his career in the VHL with the Toronto Legion, it was easy to guess that Velvet might enjoy a decent VHL career. Now in his seventh and second last season in the league, Velvet is likely on the last legs of a Hall of Fame career, but he hasn’t slowed down just yet. Velvet has helped the Titans secure another playoff berth in Season Fifty-Four, as he sits second on the Titans roster with twenty-three goals and fifty-four assists in just sixty games. While Velvet can appreciate a good regular season, everything he is doing during the regular season is hopefully just the beginning of a very long playoff run. With the Stockholm Vikings in front of the Titans currently having only lost six games all season long, Velvet will need to keep up the over a point per game pace to help outduel the mighty Vikings.

Coming off his biggest season of his VHL career that saw the Washington native take home the Scotty Campbell Trophy for league Most Valuable Player, Skye has picked up in Season Fifty-Four right where he left off. After being drafted First Overall in the terrible Season Fifty-One VHL draft, Skye was bounced around a few VHL rosters before finding his home in Quebec.  So far Skye has appeared in fifty-two games for the Meute in Season Fifty-Four posting forty-three win, 1.41 goals against average, and a league leading .934 save percentage. With a championship roster in front of him this season, Skye has a chance to top last season and possibly add the biggest piece of hardware to his trophy collection with a Continental Cup.

Holik is another goalie that has caught our eye this season with his stellar play. Often the bridesmaid when he first entered the league back in Season Forty-Eight, but now Holik finds himself in the talk of top goalie more often than not. After a failed run with the Seattle Bears ended with Holik entering free agency, the New York Americans made the surprise move of picking up the aging net minder in hopes of adding a third straight championship this season. So far Holik has done everything he can to try to get the Americans back to the promise land putting up thirty-eight wins, 1.50 goals against average, and a .932 save percentage in the fifty-two games he has started this season. Although the Americans aren’t in first place in the Conference as we enter the last stretch of games before the playoffs, but with a veteran goalie and a very explosive offense, New York has to be given a chance.
