At the end of the first period of Game number 2 in the NA Conference Finals the Americans had a lot of swagger going. They had just stolen home ice advantage, and were up 3-2 after a strong first period. Even after Quebec tied it in the middle of the second, the Americans would respond to grab the lead only several minutes later. That was of course until a series of penalties, with New York surrendering 3 goals in the last 2:06 of the period. At which point Jakab Holik was pulled from the game and MT Power would finish out the third, in a 7-4 losing effort.

There was a lot of media questions surrounding the decision on which goalie to go with, but Americans GM Devise laughed all of these questions off, and had the following to say.

What do we look like here the Pittsburgh Penguins? Come on now. Jakab Holik IS the best goalie in this league. He has proven it before, and he's had runs in the playoffs that rival some of the best all time. The difference? He hasn't always had the team behind him to push him through. We got him 2 goals on Skye in game 1 and he was able to keep that lead no problem. We got 4 on Skye in game 2. It's fine, he knows that we support him and he's allowed to have a shaky game. This wasn't going to be easy, and it never is. We've been through these battles before, and you don't give up on the game changing players like that.
