Not so long ago we played the last game of season 54 when game between Helsinki and Quebec ended into Helsinki celebrating the cup victory. Not the best possible way to end the season of course, but cant be too mad about this season, we played really well when you look how many young players we got in the team.  During regular season we won 59 games out of 72 and now in the playoffs made it all the way to the finals, lost to Helsinki 4-2. We can look back to this season and feel proud on what we achieved as a team.

This season is only the beginning though, I mentioned the younger players in the team, we got excellent core here that is only getting better every week, so if we made finals now already, think about season or two worth of training added into this roster? Future looks pretty promising here in Quebec.

Of course anything can happen in the hectic world of VHL, other teams in the league are improving each week as well, so we cant take anything for granted in the future, we must keep working hard and trust that the results will come.

Now it´s time to take our minds off from VHL and focus on something else. Some players take it easy by just doing whatever they want until the training camps starts, but some will travel to play in the upcoming World Cup before heading off to little break from hockey. The World Cup is a exciting way to end your season if you ask me. Got the chance to play against top players and maybe even bring something shiny back home with you? Sign me in right away.

I´m playing in Team Scandinavia, which is pretty exciting concept for a team. We got players from Sweden, Denmark and Finland playing together. It´s not exactly an easy thing to get everybody on the same page on and off the ice, but I´m liking our roster, got pretty much everything in there, so we could be able to surprise some of the bigger teams in the tournament. I still have no idea how well we actually play as a team, but we take it one game at a time and go from there.

The first games are going to be played soon, so we don´t have too much time to work on special moves and things inside the team, but in the first practice session we mostly focused on powerplay and penalty kill. You can win and lose games on the powerplay, so it´s a smart move to focus on that area right away, we got enough skill in the team to put the puck into the net, it´s just matter of finding the right players on each unit.

So the World Cup is what I have on my schedule in the next few weeks, after that I will also head off to little holiday, more than likely will visit family and friends back in Finland and just take it easy before the ride starts again.
