Hello out there, we’re on the air, its Hockey Night tonight. At least that’s what fans of the VHL are hoping for, as we await the start of the Season Fifty-Five in the VHL. After releasing a schedule that stated the season was to begin on Sunday of last week, we sit here four days later waiting for the puck to drop on another exciting season of VHL hockey. There hasn’t been much word from the league office into what is going on that is causing the delay, but one Reddit poster has started the speculation that league simmer JardyB10 is actually stuck in the Philippians after a lady boy robbed him at gun point of all his possession including his passport. While we await official word for the league office on what is going on in regards to the start of the season, we’ll take our usual start of the season look at those VHL players playing their final hockey games in the up-coming season.

The First Overall pick in the Season Forty-Eight VHL Entry Draft, Velvet is looking to tie a league record come seasons’ end in Season Fifty-Five. Velvet who won his fourth Continental Cup this past season with the Helsinki Titans will be looking to tie Leeroy Jenkins record of five Continental Cup wins, a record that has been untouched since Jenkins won his fifth cup in Season Thirty. Velvet will try to do all this while also adapting to new position in his eighth and final season in the league, after announcing earlier in the off-season that we will be moving to center this season. Velvet will look to build on his already stellar HOF resume this season, but the ultimate team player, Velvet will take team success over personal success in his last season.

The Second Overall pick in the Season Forty-Eight VHL Entry Draft, Unassisted is another player that is looking to add another cup to his very impressive resume. Unassisted is ready to begin his fourth season in the Big Apple after signing with the club as a free agent in the Season Fifty-Two off-season. Unassisted has been a 100 point performer in the VHL since his sophomore season, which has Unassisted sitting in the top twenty-five all time in points in the VHL heading into his final season. With another 100 point performance this year, Unassisted could find himself in some elite company as he could possibly jump ahead of VHL great Phil Rafter for seventh all-time in the VHL in points. Although he has really gone about this quietly, the VHL has witnessed one of the best players of all-time in the league play the past eight seasons. After hanging up the skates for good this season, Unassisted shouldn’t have a long wait to hear his name announced during the Hall of Fame ceremony.

The Third Overall pick in the Season Forty-Eight VHL  Entry Draft, Holik will be looking to cap off a good career in the VHL with his first Continental Cup this season. Although Holik and the Americans face an uphill battle on the way to another cup, Holik appears ready to help the Americans take on the VHL in full force this season. After two seasons with the Seattle Bears in Season Fifty-Two and Fifty-Three, where the Bears were the heavy favourites to take home the cup, Holik headed over to New York to try to help the franchise win a third straight cup. After failing to even make it to the finals last season, Holik is a man on a mission in hopes this season to hopefully take that playoff monkey off his back. With a very similar roster coming back to New York in Season Fifty-Five, it’s expected that the team will have another good chance to compete in the conference with Quebec, and hopefully Holik can make himself a difference maker for the Americans come playoff time.

The Fourth Overall pick in the Season Forty-Eight VHL Entry Draft, Kohler is returning for another season with the Stockholm Vikings after striking a deal just before the season was supposed to begin. Kohler, like Holik, will be looking to some hardware to his shelving in his last VHL season, with a Continental Cup. After being drafted to Cologne and spending three mediocre seasons with the Express, Kohler went looking for a team that would better utilize his talents on the ice.  Kohler settled on the Calgary Wranglers with three other big name free agents, but during his two seasons in Alberta, the Wranglers were nothing short of a disappointment. While the team stunk up the joint and failed miserably, Kohler was able to find his game and started his streak of 100 point seasons that has now reached four straight seasons. Now Kohler hopes to help the Stockholm Vikings win the third Continental Cup in team history before he hangs up the skates for good.
