TheLastOlympian07 2,388
Cedrick Pollack was drafted in the 1st round of the VHL Entry Draft with the 2nd overall pick. A huge trade went down during the off-season which involved Toronto and Davos. Toronto traded defenseman Ondrej Skokan Jr, center Blade Hunter, winger Ryan Wells, defenseman Cameron Stephens, a Season 18 Toronto 1st (David Vidal) and a Season 18 Madrid 3rd (Hamza Ahmed) for Season 18 Davos 1st (Cedric Pollack), Season 18 Seattle 1st (Peyton Nydroj) and a Season 19 Davos 1st (Jaroslav Oslig). It was a very interesting trade and looking back it is hard to pick a clear cut winner although maybe I would give the slight edge to Davos as Toronto seemed to have made the wrong choices with the picks. Season 18 - Brampton Battalion Season 18 Regular Season S18 - VHLM - BRM - 72 GP | 66 G | 131 A | 197 P | +102 | 17 PIM | 60 H | 528 SH | 12 SB | 6 GWG | Season 18 Playoffs S18 - VHLM - BRM - 10 GP | 8 G | 7 A | 15 P | +7 | 0 PIM | 7 H | 41 SH | 1 SB | 2 GWG After being drafted by the Toronto Legion, Pollack was sent down to the farm team which was the Brampton Battalion. He had an amazing year in Season 18 with 66 goals and 131 assists for 197 points in just 72 games. The Battalion were a pretty stacked team in Season 18 with Pollack, Nydroj, Walcott and Aiden Shaw in net. The team finished in 1st place in the entire VHLM, Brampton in the playoffs cruised to the finals with a 4-2 record before sweeping the finals. Pollack scored 8 goals and assisted on 7 goals for 15 points. A great start to his career. Season 19 - Toronto Legion Season 19 Regular Season S19 - VHL - TOR - 72 GP | 21 G | 60 A | 81 P | +1 | 78 PIM | 68 H | 247 SH | 7 SB | 2 GWG Season 19 Playoffs S19 - VHL - TOR - 5 GP | 1 G | 0 A | 1 P | -3 | 6 PIM | 7 H | 13 SH | 0 SB | 1 GWG In Season 19, Pollack was called up to the big club and proceeded to carry on where he left off in the VHLM. Cedric scored 21 goals and assisted on 60 goals for 81 points. A very fine rookie performance from Cedric. The Legion squeaked into the playoffs with 70 points which was just 6 ahead of the New York Americans. In the playoffs though, the Legion ran into the Calgary Wranglers who were looking for a back to back title in Season 19. After just 5 games, the Legion were bounced from the playoffs. Cedric scored 1 goal the entire series but it also was a game winner so there is that. Season 20 - HC Davos Dynamo Season 20 Regular Season S20 - VHL - DAV - 72 GP | 12 G | 35 A | 47 P | +45 | 16 PIM | 41 H | 152 SH | 4 SB | 0 GWG Season 20 Playoffs S20 - VHL - DAV - 14 GP | 3 G | 3 A | 6 P | +1 | 0 PIM | 0 H | 34 SH | 1 SB | 1 GWG In the off-season of Season 19, Cedric Pollack was traded from the Toronto Legion to the Madrid Thunder with a Season 20 Toronto 1st (Adam Schultz) and a Season 21 Toronto 2nd (Nick Rash) for Season 20 Madrid 1st (Kevin Hesje), Season 20 Calgary 1st (Christopher Hawkins) and a Season 21 Madrid 2nd (Cameron Davidson). It is hard to gauge who won this trade but something else happened, later in the off-season, Cedric was traded again from Madrid to the HC Davos Dynamo. Pollack was traded with Totes Magotes for a Season 22 Davos 2nd (Kyle Ernst) and a Season 21 Davos 3rd (Ken Vidal). What a weird offseason especially for Madrid. In the regular season, Cedric played 2nd fiddle in Davos and only scored 12 goals while assisting on 35 goals for 47 points. Not a bad total but not the same as in Season 19 with 81 points or in the VHLM when he had 197 points. Davos was best team in the VHL in Season 20 and made the playoffs easily. However the Riga Reign took the Dynamo to 7 games before Davos prevailed and moved onto the final. Cedric would end up playing his old team the Toronto Legion in the finals. After 7 hard fought games the Dynamo would end up winning the Continental Cup for the first time since Season 14. Cedric scored 3 goals and assisted on 3 goals for 6 points in 14 games. Season 21 - HC Davos Dynamo Season 21 Regular Season S21 - VHL - DAV - 72 GP | 22 G | 58 A | 80 P | +43 | 26 PIM | 233 SH | 8 SB | 0 GWG Season 21 Playoffs S21 - VHL - DAV - 11 GP | 3 G | 5 A | 8 P | -2 | 2 PIM | 4 H | 34 SH | 0 SB | 0 GWG Season 21 proved to be a nice bounce back campaign for Cedric as he scored 22 goals and assisted on 58 goals for 80 points which was 1 point off his career high in the VHL. However, Davos struggled a little bit with just 86 points on the year which was tied with the Helsinki Titans who ended up missing the playoffs because of a tiebreaker. The Dynamo would end up playing the Riga Reign in the playoffs. Riga finished 10 points ahead of Davos in the standings but that didn't matter much as after 6 games, the Dynamo would end up going to the finals after a 4-2 series win. However, in a rematch of 1 season ago against the Toronto Legion, the Dynamo fell in 5 games. Cedric scored 3 goals and assisted on 5 goals for 8 points in 11 playoff games. Season 22 - HC Davos Dynamo Season 22 Regular Season S22 - VHL - DAV - 72 GP | 9 G | 27 A | 36 P | -5 | 4 PIM | 10 H | 156 SH | 7 SB | 2 GWG Season 22 Playoffs S22 - VHL - DAV - 7 GP | 1 G | 3 A | 4 P | -10 | 0 PIM | 4 H | 11 SH | 0 SB | 1 GWG In Season 22, Cedric continued his yoyo act with a down season. Cedric only scored 9 goals and assisted on 27 goals for 36 points. The Dynamo though did end up tied for 1st with 99 points which tied them with Helsinki. Helsinki claimed 1st though with a tiebreaker. After 7 hard fought games, the Dynamo fell to Helsinki in the playoffs. Cedric scored 1 goal and assisted on 3 goals for 4 points in 7 games. If we was picked maybe late 1st or 2nd round pick, he would be a decent pick but since he was 2nd overall, he was not a great pick at 2nd. for Gretz Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/41977-claimed-cedric-pollack-12/ Share on other sites
Fire Tortorella 2,653
REVIEW: A nice article detailing one of the lesser known players from the past. I enjoy reading these articles about the "forgotten" players of VHL past. One suggestion I have is to add the name of the member if you have it, just to give the player a name to associate with them.
