TheLastOlympian07 2,389
David Vidal was drafted with the 6th overall pick in the Season 18 VHL Entry Draft. This pick was not originally owned by the Dynamo though as the Toronto Legion owned this pick. In a blockbuster trade between Toronto and Davos the pick made its way into the Davos' hands. The pick was traded with Ondrej Skokan Jr, Blade Hunter, Ryan Wells, Cameron Stephens and a Season 18 Madrid 3rd Round Pick (Hamza Ahmed) for Season 18 Davos 1st Round Pick (Cedric Pollack), Season 18 Seattle 1st Round Pick (Peyton Nydroj) and a Season 19 Davos 1st Round Pick (Jaroslav Oslig). David scored 13 goals and assisted on 51 goals for 64 points. It was a very nice first season for David in the VHL. The Dynamo though, missed the playoffs by 7 points as the Reign finished with 83 while Davos had 76. Overall, you can't complain much other than missing the playoffs. David still had a decent season with 10 goals and 44 assists for 54 points. Davos though climbed to 1st in the European Conference. The Dynamo and Reign would due battle in the 1st round of the playoffs. The Dynamo wound up winning after 6 games and would advance to the finals. Calgary was on their way to the finals once more after winning the Cup in Season 18. It was a quick 4 game sweep as Calgary defended their Cup. David scored 2 goals and assisted on 7 goals for 9 points. David had a nice season at forward with 31 goals and 49 assists for 80 points. It seems to have been a great success with the move to forward. Dynamo finished 1st in the league winning the Victory Cup in the process. This meant another date with the Riga Reign in the 1st round of the playoffs. After 7 hard fought games, the Dynamo moved onto the finals for the 2nd season in a row. In the finals, the Toronto Legion made it to the finals and it would be a classic between the two teams who were mostly built around the Season 18 draft. After 7 games, the Dynamo were crowned champions. David scored 3 goals and assisted on 3 for 6 points. In fact the Dynamo made the playoffs on a tie brake because they had more wins than the Helsinki Titans. David on the other hand had his best season to date with 53 goals and 56 assists for 109 points. The Dynamo and Reign would battle in the playoffs once again in Season 21 and the Dynamo would upset the Reign once more. This would be the 3rd straight season the Dynamo would make it to the finals. In the finals, the Dynamo would play the Legion once again. After just 5 games though, the Legion were victorious. David scored 4 goals and assisted on 7 goals for 11 points. Season 22 - HC Davos Dynamo Season 22 Regular Season S22 - VHL - DAV - 72 GP | 30 G | 47 A | 77 P | +38 | 20 PIM | 40 H | 353 SH | 27 SB | 4 GWG Season 22 Playoffs S22 - VHL - DAV - 7 GP | 4 G | 3 A | 7 P | +4 | 2 PIM | 1 H | 41 SH | 2 SB | 0 GWG It was always going to be hard to replicate his career season in Season 21 but no one predicted this much of a drop off. David scored 30 goals and assisted on 47 goals for 77 points. David was still a point per game player and scored 30 goals for the 3rd season since becoming a forward so it wasn't all that bad. The Dynamo were tied with the Titans for 1st in the Euro. The playoffs and finally, the Dynamo would play someone who weren't Riga in the first round. David scored 4 goals and assisted on 3 goals for 7 points. The Dynamo lost in 7 games and weren't going onto the finals for the 4th straight season. Season 23 - HC Davos Dynamo Season 23 Regular Season S23 - VHL - DAV - 72 GP | 38 G | 45 A | 83 P | +40 | 4 PIM | 6 H | 330 SH | 17 SB | 7 GWG Season 23 Playoffs S23 - VHL - DAV - 6 GP | 1 G | 2 A | 3 P | +1 | 5 PIM | 1 H | 21 SH | 0 SB | 0 GWG David bounced back nicely in Season 23 with 38 goals and assisting on 45 goals for 83 points. This was the 4th straight season with 30 goals and the 3rd time in 4 seasons he reached 80 points. The Dynamo regained their Victory Cup from Season 21. In the playoffs, the Dynamo would play the Titans once more but instead of 7 games, the Titans moved on after 6 games. David scored 1 goal and assisted on 2 goals for 3 points. Season 24 - Calgary Wranglers Season 24 Regular Season S24 - VHL - DAV/CAL - 70 GP | 21 G | 14 A | 35 P | -41 | 13 PIM | 16 H | 220 SH | 7 SB | 1 GWG Season 24 Playoffs N/A After Season 24 had started, the Dynamo decided to move on from David Vidal and traded him to the Calgary Wranglers with a Season 25 Davos 1st Round Pick (Johannes Hwoarathmund) for Mathias Chouinard and a Season 26 Calgary 3rd Round Pick (Stanislav Czerkawski). Vidal had a very poor season scoring just 21 goals and assisting on 14 goals for just 35 points. It was hard for him to get accustomed for Calgary from Davos as the team didn't have enough star power. Calgary finished 31 points behind the New York Americans for the last playoff spot. Season 25 - Calgary Wranglers Season 25 Regular Season S25 - VHL - CAL - 72 GP | 24 G | 26 A | 50 P | -73 | 8 PIM | 25 H | 211 SH | 13 SB | 1 GWG Season 25 Playoffs N/A Season 25 was a bit better for David as he scored 24 goals and assisted on 26 goals for 50 points. However, the Wranglers were still in a rebuild and finished dead last in the VHL with just 21 points which was 69 points behind the Toronto Legion for the final playoff spot. It was a sad end to a pretty decent career for Vidal. He won a single Continental Cup with Davos in Season 20. He didn't do much individually but he was a solid depth scorer who had one nice 100 point season and multiple PPG seasons.
