Colton Rayne is a hulking defensemen from New Jersey, USA. He prides himself on great work ethic, and his ability to defend his own zone. He has a crisp first pass, and despite some flaws in his skating ability, he has shown improvement over the year. He projects to be more of a defensive defender than a guy who will rack up the points. That being said his work ethic is barely matched, in his groups he easily stands out, which many figure means he could be much better than he is now.

 

For a big boy though he does leave some to be desired, he doesn't throw his weight around, and his strength is fairly low. However, these are teachable skills his other talents aren't, his vision in his own zone is almost unparalleled to most his age. It's a skill GMs covet, not one that can be taught over time. We project him to sit anywhere from late first, too the early second. Whoever lands him will, have a diamond in the rough in our personal opinion.
