Müller Rolling

When he was first drafted, there were major questions about Lukas Müller - he clearly had talent, but many were unsure about his attitude problems.  He’d been known to have altercations in the locker room in the past, and seemed to be overconfident about his own abilities.  But at the same time, his playmaking ability and offensive contribution was just too good to overlook, as the Quebec City Meute selected him second overall in the Season 53 draft.  At first, fans were worried that Lukas, the son of former VHL defenseman Klaus Müller, might be a bad influence in the locker room and could easily be a bust.

Now, almost four seasons later, he’s settled in incredibly well and has proved to be incredibly important to the Meute and their title hopes.  Earlier in the season, the German center passed 100 points, passing the century mark for the third straight season.  This puts him in very elite company.  The last player to score 100 points in three of his first four seasons was former Meute and Americans center Unassisted, a surefire hall-of-famer and the 24th-highest point scorer of all time.  Not even Thomas O’Malley, one of the best players of all time, achieved this feat.  While we’re yet to see if Müller can keep up this impressive pace for the rest of his career, Season 56 has been his best so far.  He currently leads the league with 112 points, 10 ahead of any other player, and also has the most assists with 71.  With 14 games left, the 130-point mark seems well within reach.  Can Müller keep it up and establish himself among the VHL’s elite?
