Greinke was drafted by the Toronto Legion in the Season 18 VHL Entry Draft with the 13th overall pick. Toronto didn't own this pick but it was acquired via trade with the Madrid Thunder who traded the pick with a Season 18 Madrid 3rd Round Pick (Hamza Ahmed) and Ryan Wells for Carl Jacobs.

 

Season 18 - Brampton Battalion

After being drafted by the Legion, Greinke was sent back to the VHLM to play for the Brampton Battalion. Brampton was a powerhouse this season finishing with 134 points which was 18 points higher than the next best team in the entire VHLM. Greinke scored 77 goals and assisted on 94 goals for 171 points and this wasn't even enough for 1st or 2nd in team scoring! he finished 3rd in team scoring behind Cedric Pollack and Peyton Nydroj.

 

The playoffs were a cakewalk for the Battalion who Saskatoon Wild in 6 games then swept the Gothenburg Eagles in just 4 games to claim the Founders Cup. Greinke led the way with 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points in just 10 games. However, goaltender Aiden Shaw took home the Skylar Rift Trophy as Playoff MVP.

 

Season 19 - Toronto Legion

After last season in the VHLM, Greinke was definitely ready for the VHL and was promptly called up for the start of Season 19. This young Legion team fought tooth and nail for the last playoff spot in the NA with 70 points compared to the 64 and 62 of the New York Americans and Seattle Bears for the final playoff spot. Greinke had a decent rookie season with 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points. 

 

However, this young Legion squad was no match for the defending Continental Cup Champions, the Calgary Wranglers in the semi's and were easily beaten in 5 games. Greinke scored 1 goal and assisted on 3 goals for 4 points in the series.

 

Season 20 - Calgary Wranglers

Season 20 rolled around and the Wranglers fresh off a back to back championship win, decided it was time to sell off and rebuild. Calgary and Toronto struck a deal that involved Greinke and a Season 20 Madrid 1st Round Pick (Kevyn Hesje) going to Calgary in exchange for Lars Berger. Today this seems like absolute win for the Legion because they got a HoF center in exchange for a player who would retire after this season and a pick they will trade. 

 

The Wranglers did have a big fall from grace in Season 20 going from back to back champs to missing the playoffs with a measly 37 points. Greinke would score just 11 goals and assist on 28 goals for 39 points on the season. After this season Greinke would call it a career. What started off pretty amazing in the VHLM would somewhat die a quick death in the VHL.

It is actually kind of sad to see a career have so much potential just go down the drain like that. After 171 points in the VHLM, Greinke was only able to crack 91 points in 2 VHL seasons. Oh well, what could have been.
