jRuutu 2,475
Season 56 finals have already started, Quebec vs Davos . Two teams who both collected 114 points during the regular season are now even at two wins each at the finals, so we are getting dangerously close to one team celebrating the cup victory. Game five is in the schedule next and goes without saying, that game is huge for both teams. A lot easier to play in the game six when you are up by one instead of having your back against the wall and having to win if you want to force the series to always so magical game seven. Since we are getting close to the most important games of the season, I thought I take a quick look at both teams and see if there is any players who have played really well so far in the playoffs and in the other end, if there are some who have not reached the level many expected and hoped. Lets start off with Davos, they have played a whopping 17 games already in the playoffs, so gotta wonder if that is going to have any effect soon, a lot of games in short period of time cant at least help when playing intense hockey, especially at the end of the games energy levels might be on the red for many players, but back to the topic, Davos has in total of six players with 10 or more points and after that, another four with seven or more points in 17 games, so depth is what Davos hopes to be the difference maker. Perhaps the biggest surprise is rookie Peter Quill leading Davos in scoring with 16 points. Talented player, but still you don´t see a rookie player take big role right away like Quill has so far, even more impressive when you take the veteran players of Davos and depth in general into consideration. Cant say they have any players who have played too much under their level so far, solid playoff run so far - spot in the finals is a proof of that naturally. Next is the other team in the finals, Quebec. Game five is 11th in this years playoffs for Meute, so they should in theory at least have more gas in the tank and that could very well be the reason why Quebec possibly wins the cup, fresh legs vs Davos with almost double the games already played. Quebec has four players with 10 or more points in the ten games they have played so far, after that comes group of three with 6 or more points, so Quebec has scoring depth in the roster as well. Same words as with Davos can be used with Meute here, nobody has played too much under their level so far, positive year overall, but there is one player who has surprised many, Fook Yu! He has 11 points in ten games while playing on the 2nd line, third best total in Quebec. If that is not enough, he has 41 hits and has won 58% of the faceoffs he has taken, so dominant two-way performance so far from Yu. That´s it really, both teams have great players in their rosters, so anything is still possible and the results in the first four games of the finals show that, really up and down for both teams, play well in one, but lose the next or the other way around.
