Claimed: Looking Back at the six titles Auto-Complete suggested for me for this article

I didn't have a topic in mind for this week so I just decided to ramble about the six topic titles that came up as Auto-Complete and what I seem to remember the original articles were about.

 

 

VHL.com Article in Poll Format - Probably the favourite recurring article I did, I basically did the entire 200 word count for a VHL.com article inside of a poll. Maybe I should do that again.

 

Players Who Didn't Benefit from All-Star Change - I presume this was an article that I wrote about which players had their All-Star chances hit when we briefly moved the All-Star from taking place following the regular season to during the trade deadline. I would probably say that decision to move it to the deadline was one of the worst/least successful changes that I'd seen in my time with the VHL and also led to no All-Star game being played I believe for at least a two season stretch.

 

YEAHCast - I didn't realise I ever did a YEAHCast, I presumed that all of my podcasts were called PIMCasts but I guess not. 

 

Research Article: How Well Do Teams Who Spend The Most on Defensemen Do? - I think I did this following Season 49 as the Bears, after bringing in Biggu Kyanon and retaining Jeff Hamilton, had thought they were set to challenge for the Championship, but they were so far off the pace that they actually wound up starting a rebuild halfway through the season, in part because they had spent so much on defensemen that their forward core was simply not good enough. I seem to remember my article showed that the team who spent the most on defensemen missed the playoffs more often than they won the championship. 

 

VHLM - Get Your Shit Together - This was an article I wrote around the Season 54 trade deadline and was to do with the ridiculously poor effort being made at the time to put players onto rosters both by General Managers (It took VHLM GMs four days to even make an offer for guys) and the commissioners (Once I'd been signed, I remember it took nearly a week to actually get into the sim). I'm glad to see that the VHLM has been much better in that regard, as it seems like the GMs are a lot more committed and the new VHLM commissioners are doing a good job as well.

 

Thoughts - No clue what this was about, probably contraction.

 

Thinking back on it, it's kind of interesting, although probably somewhat expected as well, the path that I have taken in regards to the ways that I approach earning TPE. Going into the league knowing nothing about hockey, I didn't feel confident enough to write about anything meaningful so I just stuck to joke articles about how my player liked to set fire to things and the lengths that he'd go to earn Penalty Minutes with the occasional paint graphic added in for good measure. As time progressed though, I started to write more league focused articles and also offered more opinion-based articles, which I think for the most part have been received pretty positively.

Typically I try and stay away from weekly iterations of the same idea because I find it difficult to motivate myself to write about the same topic week-on-week and it can be difficult to find a unique talking point, but it's something I might do on an occasional basis.

When I was doing a lot of writing my main helper was the fact that I could write about the same points but from different perspectives.

 

for example you could do a HSK review and review there players if there contracts are coming up are they going to resign? How they are doing this season compaired to last what draft picks they have and who’s in there ball park at that pick. 

 

I would read it every week for sure
