Free Agency [1/2]

So NHL free agency frenzy has come and gone. This one was pretty boring because there was one big fish the rest were meh at best. Much like in the VHL everyone with half a brain knew if JT did not sign with NY last night he would sign in Toronto. He is from there and grew up dreaming that he would play for them. Stop praising the youngster GM. JT was coming even if another person was at the helm. Actually you should be concerned about the cap situation if anything. Matthew’s will get 10mill in the least marner in the 6-8 range nylander 4-6 and you have the older Marleau eating cap up. How will they fit all that under the cap and still have some left for D. Answer is they won’t.

 

Which brings me to the topic of this weeks MS. Free agency. More specifically my free agency fuck around. I stumbled upon a small one this past off season with Ko Kane. I didn’t even know I was a free agent till people offered me contracts. I tried to make the best of the situation and played it a bit but since I did not plan it I didn’t have much I could do. So what’s next? Another one in 2 seasons? In kanes last few seasons. I mean he will still be good and will get offers I’m sure but seriously what’s the point?  So we will see when the time comes.

 

Which brings me to Orion Slade. How can I make him the biggest fuck around this league has ever seen. How will I do that? Well without huge spoilers here are a few details.

 

Orion refuses to play in the VHLM unless it's for Vegas. He plans to play one season. Not a second more.

 

His rookie contract will be 3 years. PO on the 2nd and 3rd years. Don’t like It? Don’t draft him. I’ll gladly be a undrafted free agent

Opting out of 2nd year: will sign 1 year deal with the highest bidding contending team

 

Opting out of 3rd year: will sign a cap friendly 1 year contract with one of the favorite teams

 

4th season he will sign with another favorite team

 

5th same as last

 

6th same as last

 

7th same as last

 

8th will it sign if he gets to play on multiple teams in his last year. That is all that I will say about his last season. Its technically a clause but not really. It will be a fun time. Filled with hype and insane pitches to him. Xavier times oh about a million. The tension will start to build very soon as I release more and more MS's. All I will say is that enjoy the ride. I know I will. I feel like I already made a ms like this recently but this is more of a detailed Orion fuckery without giving away too much. What fun is it to tell people what I plan to do before I do it. Sure you know I plan to hop from team to team. 7 of 8 teams that is. But could you really expect any less from my last ever player?

Review:

Definitely not a great way to get drafted high, but it's a cool way to play out a career.
