Twinger Ready to Roll [2/2]

Riga/Twinger On the Up and Up

Leph Twinger, after all signs pointed to it was drafted 1st overall to the Riga Reign this off-season. Considering his dominance in the VHLM, this was no surprise. He led the league in both goals and points, and had other accolades on top of that. He won the league's MVP, and tied with Marvin Harding for the best Two-Way Forward. One thing he did not walk away with though was the Founder's Cup. The Yukon Rush had everything going for them into the playoffs, but ultimately were beat out by the Oslo Storm likely due to some questionable coaching decisions. The DollarAndADream Agency, despite having 6 players go through the VHLM is yet to have a Founder's Cup to its name.

The Riga Reign last season, even young, had some considerable firepower. Both Edwin Preencarnacion and Podrik Cast, drafted last year both had amazing rookie campaigns. Pod Cast won Rookie of the Year recently, and Leph Twinger is likely to be thrown onto that 1st line with both of those players. With all three of those elite offensive talents at such a young age already locked in together for the Reign, it seems like they are primed to compete for many seasons. With many other pieces drafted after Twinger in the draft by Riga, they are looking like a franchise to be scared of moving forward.

Twinger dominated the VHLM with 70 goals. This was 18 more than any other player in the league, and that player with 52 was his teammate Sergei Kovalev. He also had 133 points, and was almost chased off of that #1 spot by teammate Centis Kurtutecis, but Kurt fell short with 131. With that kind of surefire offense at his disposal, Leph Twinger seems like a shoe-in for VHL dominance and a strong candidate for Rookie of the Year in S62.

One thing is certain, if Twinger can come onto that Riga Reign roster and continue to impress, along with the rest of the crew continuing to do the same, things will only be positive for the Reign.

They also drafted another LW in Ryuu Crimson at 9th overall. Crimson was on the Saskatoon Wild who were a struggling team, so Crimson only put up 15 points in 47 games. That's nothing to scoff at, and we're looking for Crimson to light it up next season where he plays.

Aside from that, the Reign also drafted other great prospects in the draft, and many of them defenseman. Obviously with those big talents up front, Riga needed to make sure they had great puck playing on the back end. They drafted Dylan Nguyen at 7th overall, who had a very strong first season in the VHLM on Saskatoon with 41 points in 49 games. The Saskatoon Wild were one of the weaker squads, but Nguyen did not let that hurt him. Shawn Glade was their 11th overall pick, who put up 27 points in 70 games on a very strong Yukon Rush team. His game came together superbly in the playoffs with 11 points in 10 games. Later in the draft the Riga Reign picked Lukas Novacek and Paulo Nano, both of which could end up being huge steals.

The future is bright in Riga.

Review - I'm always a sucker for a nicely formatted article, so I immediately like what you did with this. The use of pictures and the correct line breaks makes this look very professional. You wrote this in a way where it really does come across like a little bio piece from a magazine or website. Great work here.
