The Riga Reign entered Season 62 as one of the younger teams with a group of players looking to break out. Several notable young players, like Twinger, Cast, and Preencarnacion. But internally Riga didn't have high expectations for the season. Last years Continental Cup winner the Davos Dynamo are still very much a threat this season. As is their Cup Final adversary, the Calgary Wranglers. The Quebec City Meute also made plays to push for contention this season.

All the turmoil has left the young Reign as a team ready to play spoiler in Season 62. While the points are close, and it is possible the Reign could continue to find themselves outside the playoff picture looking in, the team has got to gain some confidence given some of their results thus far. Despite only having 8 wins, the Reign have 2 wins over last seasons Cup final teams, and the two top teams in the league in Calgary and Davos, and a win over the Seattle Bears, another team looking in contention this season.

Internally the team has been very pleased with these upsets, as it shows early signs of growth and a willingness to play up to your competition. While it is still highly unlikely that the Reign will make much actual noise in Season 62, seeing some early upsets from the young Riga core has to bode well for the future of the franchise, as this core looks to grow up together, and begin to cement Riga back into the conversation when it comes to eventually contending for a championship.
