oilmandan 688
Ottawa Lynx 22-10-2 46PTS 3rd VHLM The VHLM season is rolling right along at a torrid pace, and we've almost hit the halfway mark. Thanks to a key trade, the Lynx have turned up the heat on the league leading 21st and Aces. The Lynx record in the past week was a scintillating 10-3-1. They've pulled to within 1 point of the the Las Vegas Aces and 6 behind the Halifax 21st. With another 20 games to the trade deadline, the arms race has also heated up, as Halifax and Vegas both also loading up with skilled veterans. On August 24th, the Lynx responded by completing a deal that sent JP Desjardin, Chat, 2nd and 6th round picks in the 63rd draft and a 2nd round pick in the 64th draft to the rebuilding Yukon Rush for star defenseman Ryan Kastelic. League execs and fans hailed the move as the steal of the century and had to be stopped by Ottawa City Council from planning a parade in GM Diamond _Ace’s honour. Ownership loves the move as well and its it's been rumored that they are writing up a contract extension that would make Diamond_Ace the highest paid executive in VHLM history. The move solidified the defensive core and along with recent signings in Jesse Wilson and Randoms has given the club solid depth for the stretch run ahead. Lando Baxter and Roctrion King continue to pace the Lynx offensively, with King leading the way with 22 goals in 34 games, and Baxter with 34 helpers and 48 points. Kallis Kriketers has been rock solid in goal with a league best 4 shutouts and he has watched his goals against average fall to a stunning 2.36, which ranks second out of netminder that have played over 20 games. The Lynx lead the VHLM in goals which was expected to be the teams strength. The special teams have also continued to improve as of late, but the parade to the penalty box will need to slow if they hope to win in the playoffs. The Lynx have been rumored to be putting all their eggs in the S62 basket as they appear to be losing a large chunk of players in the upcoming VHL draft. Ryan Kastelic (2), Joseph McWolf (4), Chance Matthews (12), Chace Trepanier (14), Dan Wilinsky (14), Vaydar Odinsson (16), Gregor Rasputinov (25), and Jerome Mitchell (28) are all ranked in the top 30 in the draft and will likely move on. While Trepanier, Wilinsky and Randoms are also eligible in the VHLM draft and could also be selected by other VHLM clubs. Baxter, King and Kriketers will probably also graduate to the VHL. If the lynx can continue to play the way they have of late they could be a very tough group to handle as the season wears on. Their players continue to improve at a ridiculous rate and they have finally found some chemistry up and down the lineup. There will be no nights off for the Lynx if they plan on a date with destiny and a Founders Cup Championship.
