I can't think of a topic to write about so I'm just going to post some random thoughts about the league.

 

STHS - I know there's been some talk about trying to find a replacement for STHS. I don't really see the point. I'm not going to say STHS is perfect, but it's pretty good. EHM/FHM and other sims will not work with our 6F/4D/1G set up, and anything different than that is not worth exploring given our current player base. I'd even argue I'd rather see expansion than larger rosters. It's something that we're going through in Riga this year and I'm sure @Devise is a good sport and doesn't mind his player getting less ice time than expected, but it still sucks and isn't something I'd want multiple members to have to go through.

 

Automation - Overall, the portal has been a net positive for the league. Updating is easier (assuming you do it weekly), updates are applied each week or each sim or something like that, and it eliminates a TON of manual work, especially during the off-season and when setting up the season files for the VHL and VHLM. There are a couple things that I miss, such as the free agency and trade discussions and the live draft threads, but I think the biggest thing we have to guard against is relying too much on @Will. I know the other members of the dark and light blue team have experience using the portal, but as far as I know, Will is the brain child behind it and we have to make sure we don't become too reliant on him.
