ShawnGlade 1,010
Karl von Moltke: 72GP, 45G, 80A, 125P (S62) In Halifax's inaugural season, KVM found himself going from a powerhouse Las Vegas team, to a Halifax team with all the eyes on them. Nobody expected the 21st to go on the run they did, not even KVM himself. However, the first ever Halifax team went on to clinch the 1 seed during the regular seed, mainly because of the play from von Moltke. Karl von Moltke led the 21st to the promise land, on the back of his 125 point season in S62. He captured the Ethan Osborne, Vladimir Boomchenko, Mitch Higgins, and Matt Bentz trophies that season, en route to a finals appearance in their inaugural season. Although he was never able to capture the Founder's Cup in his career, KVM dominated on the ice every night, always making an impact, ending his VHLM career with over 1PPG. He was also a great teammate off the ice, taking part in various extracurricular activities with the team, as well as staying active on the site. Us here in Halifax, and his former teammates really hated to say goodbye and watch him head off the the VHL, but we know that he will continue to do many great things in his career. He was truly a special player and forever made an impact as the leader of the first ever Halifax team, and for that, no one on the 21st will wear the number 17 again. #ForeverA21st Shawn Glade: 72 GP, 48G, 60A, 108P (S62) Dominating defencemen are so hard to come by in the current era of the VHLM. Shawn Glade started off his career with the Yukon Rush in S61, and was apart of the infamous line debacle in the finals that year that cost the Rush the cup. Not satisfied with his performance yet, Glade really upped his game in the offseason in preparation to lead the Rush to the finals again, only to somehow drop all the way to the end of the second round, where he was taken 12th overall by the Halifax 21st. A bit shaken by his draft performance, Glade regained his composure and started as the #2 dman on the 21st behind Tzuyu. Playing on the second pairing all season, Glade was still able to score nearly 50 goals and 110 points playing less minutes than all the other top players in the league. When it was all said and done, Shawn Glade walked away with the Alexander Chershenko trophy as well as the Ryan Sullivan trophy. The VHLM hasn't seen the likes of such an offensively gifted dman since Adam Warlock in S68. Despite such a great VHLM career, he made it to the finals in both his season, both with different teams, however being on the losing end both times. It's unfortunate that such a player didn't get to go out on top, but he has a great minors career to look back on, and a great VHL career with the Reign to look forward to. He's such a talented player, and for that reason we celebrate, as Shawn Glade's number 16 is raised to the rafters in Halifax. #ForeverA21st ColeMrtz 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/54669-halifax-21st-retired-numbers/ Share on other sites
