Vasteras GM Bruce Wayne was spotted visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vladislav Tretiak, the president of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia. Russia, who has just finished hosting the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, had a very disappointing Olympics in ice hockey. In hopes of improving Russian hockey, Putin and Tretiak are hoping to bring the VHLM or VHL to Russia. Though the VHL rejected Russia’s bid for a team, the VHLM might be willing to capitalize on the venture.

“Hockey is very popular in Russia,” said VHLM GM Bruce Wayne, “I met with President Putin and Mr. Tretiak to discuss a possible franchise move to Russia.”

The leading candidate for a possible relocation is the Vasteras IK J20, so it is quite fitting/interesting for Mr. Wayne to meet with Putin and Tretiak.

“There is a lot of business that could be gained from moving a team to Russia,” said Tretiak, “definitely more business than Vasteras IK J20 is currently getting as a result of an overcrowding in Vasteras.”

Though hockey is a sport that also emphasizes tradition, hockey is still a business and as a result it could see one of the most storied franchises in Vasteras to move.
