Image result for old man hockey

Seattle -- It's the final season of Seattle Bears forward Gabriel McAllister's career, and through 20 games, it seems that he certainly wants to make it a memorable one. Despite playing one fewer game than much of the rest of the league, McAllister currently tops the VHL charts in both points (40) and hits (126) by a sizable margin over his next closest competitors. In both goals (16) and assists (24), meanwhile, he sits in second.

Some of his hot start can be attributed to playing the New York Americans, currently at the bottom of the standings, for half those games. Even against the better teams in the league, though, McAllister has played well - Seattle's last three games have each been against the Calgary Wranglers, and McAllister tallied a goal in the first two games and two assists in the third.

Especially as he's gotten older, McAllister was a bit worried going into the season about his production. For now, though, those fears seem to have been assuaged.

"I'm feeling as good as I ever have - if the VHL would let me, I could easily play another two or three years," McAllister told reporters after the team's recent victory against the Wranglers. "But as it is, I'm just going to have to go out on top. I already have a couple titles, a couple MVPs, and a couple Two-Way Players to my name, but I wouldn't mind taking a bit more hardware with me as I ride into the sunset."
