Even with the offseason just barely underway, it seems that the Seattle Bears are already done with their shopping list. Gone are Mikey Blade, Gregory Glass, and a host of draft picks. In their place are Ethan Osborne and Willie Weber, formerly of the Helsinki Titans, and Damon Tyrael, formerly of the Riga Reign.

However, while much of the focus in Seattle is on the new stars, the Seattle Times caught up with one of the team’s returning stars gearing up for his first full season at forward: Karsten Olsen.

Q: This is the first time you’ve talked to the media since the trades went down. What’s your thoughts?

KO: First of all, I’d like to say that I’m going to miss Blade and Glass. Blade has been a model teammate since coming to Seattle, and I know that he’s going to rock it as the main guy in Riga. And even though I didn’t know Glass for that long, he seemed really enthusiastic, and I’m excited for what his agency can do with his next player.

With that said, I’d be lying if I tried to pretend I wasn’t super pumped. I thought Tyrael had the chance to be the Rookie of the Year last year (I put that on my ballot), so to see him on my team is excellent. Weber was always my semi-rival coming out of the some draft class at defenseman, so I know what he’s capable of. And Osborne... what is there to be said?

Q: Well, we’d like you to say something.

KO: Have it your way. Look, Osborne's still an MVP candidate, even in his final season. I’ve played with some talented players before, but he has proven to be on a whole other level. With the improvements that both Ball and I have made in the offseason, we may very well have the most dangerous first line in the entire VHL this season. I think it’s going to be a banner year for us.
