Player seeking compensation

After a flurry of trades by General Manager of the year Julian, the league has decided to take action against him.

In game ninety four against the Yukon Rush Anthony Matthews broke his ten game pointless drought with an assist.  That 10 game drought co-responds with some other deals made by the hot shot Las Vegas Aces general manager.

“For some reason I was playing Right Wing.  I take face offs man, that is what I do, that is what I am good at.  Not skating down the wing.” Responded Matthews when asked about why he was on the wing during that ten game drought.

“My living comes from winning face offs, I cannot win face-offs when I am not taking them” added Matthews after coming back to the interview for some bonus footage.

It was not a great time for the Aces during those games.  They did not win as many face offs and they did not win as many games as they would have if Matthews was playing in his natural position.

Then General Manager Jubo sorted things out at the league office and everything was alright again.  Matthews was back at centre, winning face offs and netting another assist.

Then something happened.

The Las Vegas Aces traded for two wingers.  Line mates for Matthews, one on the right (La Garza) and one on the left (Harris).  They came over from Olso in hopes of creating another line to watch out for (not just one line that you cannot beat at the face off dot).

It is at this point, game ninety seven versus the lowly Saskatoon Wild and game ninety nine versus the team that paid the league to bench a star face off man, the Halifax Twenty Ones.

“I mean, ya, Saskatoon is a wild bunch and you never know what kind of hockey they are going to play, but you can easily distract them by telling them you see a car coming, then they sit there waiting for the car to come.  But the Twenty Ones from Halifax, they play like a bunch of immature twenty one year olds.  They are only worried about if it is a good hit and when intermission is so they can play fortnite in their locker rooms.” Said Matthews when asked about what it is liked playing against the two teams he was benched for.

These were the offending games.  Ninety seven and Ninety nine.  Benched.  Did not see the score sheet and watched the game from the press box.  (“The food was good, but that is not why you strive for the VHL” – another tidbit from Matthews).

“I have discussed it with Matthews, and I had nothing to do the benching and I have allowed him access to my lawyers.” Commented the True Players General Manager, Jubo.

“My client is seeking retribution.  He is seeking punitive damages done by the league.  They have affected his livelihood and there is a potential for them to have damaged his draft status.  He will not earn as much as he could have due to the loss of these two games with his new offensive line mates.  The case is simple.  3 TPE per game missed.  That’s 6 TPE awarded to my client.  Now you may think why does my client deserve these TPE?  Let me ask you to think about something….

This is Chewbacca.  Chewbacca is a Wookie from the planet Kashyyyk.  But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor.  Now think about that.  That does not make sense.  Why would a Wookie, an 8-foot-tall Wookie, want to live on Endor with a bunch of 2-foot-tall Ewoks? (It’s just as bad as Porgs) That does not make sense!  What does this have to do with TPE and being benched by the league for absolutely no good reason? Nothing.  Ladies and Gentlemen, if Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must award my client the 6 TPE.  The defense rests.”

This was Johnnie Cochran, the Las Vegas Aces general manager lawyer’s closing statement at the hearing provided by the VHLMPA in a grievance filed against a Simon T. H. Sim for wrongfully leaving the player out of the lineup.
