jRuutu 2,464
Loyalty, dedication, hard work, and integrity - words that mean nothing to me. You can maybe understand my feelings when Beavis - the tough, but fair general manager of Quebec said the following words to me week or so ago: Yo Rauno, we are not winning enough games, you better start shooting the puck or I will drive you to the airport myself. I quickly answered to Beaviss: Some privacy please, I´m in the shower. But I heard the message, after the shower while I was wiping my chiseled jawline to Riga Reign jersey that I use as a towel, I decided to go for it and truly start making changes to my game, he was right. I need to shoot more and I need to stop worrying about assists, they will come when I start being more selfish. Sure, I make more money from endorsements than most of the players in Quebec, I get a free car every season and I get to sit next to the bus driver, but when do I get something just for myself you know? It´s about time I start thinking about me more and less about the other people. I say to you all the same thing I told to Beaviss, if I score over 40 goals in a season, I´m retiring. I did not start playing hockey to score goals, winning and scoring goals is not what motivates me, it´s passing and playmaking. Both are almost like an art. But, there come times when every player needs to think real hard on if there are things they should do more and better, shooting for me is one and I will do whatever it takes to improve my ability to shoot and more importantly willingness to shoot before the playoffs start. Speaking of playoffs, Quebec is still sitting on a playoff spot at the moment, Meute is fifth on the standings. Everything is really tight, the difference between Quebec and the first team is only ten points. Riga first with 49, Toronto and Seattle at 45 and Helsinki fourth with 40 points. Realistically speaking Calgary and even New York could make the playoffs still, Calgary has 30 and New York 29 points, so couple poor sims here and there, the standings will look a lot different. Davos is the last with 18 points, so their journey to playoffs is not looking too promising, otherwise, for the rest of the teams, everything is possible! Since I´m slowly transitioning towards a goal scorers mindset, quick look at the top goalscorers, Thompson is first with disgusting 31 goals in 34 games. Arroyo second with 26, Louth, Cast and Preencarnacion other three players who have broken the 20 goal mark already. I personally have four goals right now, so in the best case scenario, I could be around 20 goals when the regular season ends, I´d be happy with that. Not too high of a number, but also shows that I can find the net and most importantly, I could score important goal or two in the playoffs!
