sterling 1,997
A day after the Season 37 VHL Entry Draft, third overall selection Tom Slaughter landed in New York to a hoard of media. Slaughter is widely touted as one of the top prospects ever in VHL history and in a somewhat surprising move he was taken third overall. Former teammate Slaeter Fjorsstrom went first overall to the Riga Reign in a move that was expected. First generation player Jakob Linholm went second overall which surprised many, but not Slaughter as he had already spoken with General Manager Chris Miller about the event. "I was happy for Slaeter and for Linholm. Those are two guys who will have excellent VHL careers. Thankfully I get to share my career with the latter and I get to wish Slaeter luck. I know he wanted to go first overall, it was important to him. I was more focused on getting to a team that fit me. I think Riga will be a good team in future seasons, but this New York team is a lot better I think. We have a lot of developing talent and some excellent veterans in place already. I'm excited to call New York home and really anticipate having a good rookie season," Slaughter said.
