Expanding the VHLM was an excellent decision by the Commisioners. Having 8 teams will bring a lot more parity and competition to the league. Free agents will have more options to sign with, making it difficult to build a team on waiver claims alone. The added teams mean that the VHLM won't follow the same basic routine of three contenders and three rebuilders year after year. There will be more middle of the pack teams then before who will have to decide whether to rebuild or contend once they arrive at the deadline. Teams won't be so stacked with talent, meaning players with 200 TPE won't ever be forced to play second line minutes anymore and the chances of having a dynasty that follows the trend of contending every other year will go down. The fact that the league is implementing a lottery spices it up. The worst team is no longer guaranteed a first overall pick which will take away from the attraction of tanking just to be the best team the following season. There will be more chance to build rivalries and hopefully you will no longer end up having the same teams play one another three games in a row. Overall, I think expansion was the best thing for the VHLM as it is a growing league and more ice-time for everyone means more fun for everyone.
