Hybrid1486 577
After briefly flirting with free agency this season, I decided to renew my contract for one season in Helsinki with every intention of hitting the market next offseason. Then, the new rules around carryover TPE were handed down and the allure of a long career for a player I'm not terribly passionate about (the 7% carryover after the sixth or seventh season) went away, replaced with a straight 4% regardless of career length. Even though I've more or less stopped writing media spots without some sort of bonus incentive, I'm still adding about 10-11 capped TPE a week. I can still rack up TPE at a respectable rate...maybe not as much as the guys who do heavy recruiting, but still, enough to be an impact player. That said, Slipher has been incredibly disappointing up to this point. I'm going to give him one more season to see if I turn around my opinion, but if not I'm entirely ready to retire him at next season's deadline to go all-in on a S67 stud. If not, though, I'm still planning on seeing him go to free agency. I could very well stay in Helsinki, but either way I'm not signing a contract extension (#selftampering). That said, now that I'm at 700 TPE with this piece, I'm all about a strong playoff run this year. It'll be tough without Pepper in Game 1 against Riga, but we can do this.
