Peace breaks media silence after trade to HC Davos Dynamo.

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND --  Rylan Peace landed in Davos nearly a week ago, however he immediately went into a near total media blackout following his arrival in order to accelerate his orientation to a new town. He found a roommate, a place to live, connected internet services for the most essential off-ice events... playing Escape From Tarkov when he can, but beyond letting out the occasional tweet he hasn't made himself available to media outlets. We had left a message on his phone, still sporting his old Canadian number, and eventually got a call back scheduling an interview at - of all the places in Davos - Pizzeria Da Toni.

We sat down with him and his pizza, a very delicately crafted six topping meat lovers extreme, and wondering how many pieces he'd share during the interview.

The answer is none.

Not. A. Piece.

The fat fuck ate it all - a medium pizza with eight slices, enough to feed himself and the crew we sent to interview him - and not a piece did he share.

But we had an exclusive opportunity to ask him some questions, so greasy stains on his shirts aside, we pressed forward. Our interpreters will develop a native-supported localisation later, but Peace isn't bilingual and speaks only English - like an uneducated neanderthal. First, we asked him if he was enjoying the beautiful scenery around Davos - situated between gorgeous mountains on both sides, often capped by snow and the nature is suburb.

"It's amazing here," Peace said. "Reminds me of home, really. Just a short drive away from the mountains, could spend a day just sitting at a camp fire listening to nature." Rylan trailed on about camping, just sitting in the shade listening to the birds chirping and - if he was lucky - the soft rushing of a creek or river nearby. Followed by that answer we asked him what he thought about the trade that brought him to Davos.

"Honestly I wasn't that surprised," Peace admitted. "With the expansion, and the cap minimum going up for nearly all of Riga's players, I knew someone had to go."

"I knew from the beginning the core element of Riga - you know - Cast, Edwin, Kastelic, Glade... those players weren't going anywhere, but beyond that I knew everyone else was expendable one way or another. Those four became the stars of the Reign after Bass' announced his retirement, so I honestly thought I was being left unprotected for the expansion draft."

Davos acquired Peace in an exchange that sent Randoms back to Riga, where Davos immediately protected Peace in the expansion. Riga protected Randoms, leaving Pajari unprotected, who went through the expansion draft without being yanked from the team. Rylan Peace's short stint with Riga was alright,  but not the way he would have liked, and Peace's public admission of disappointment can be seen far and wide across social media.

We asked Rylan what he expected of Davos this year, along with how his change to centre might effect his play.

"I expect the Dynamo to do much better," Peace replied with enthusiasm. "I was brought in to be the top line right wing, but when I told the boss I wanted to switch to centre - as I had already started training for it in Riga when I thought Pajari might have been picked up by Moscow - he was pretty happy to oblige, let me continue training in face offs and in the gym. The original intent was to give the Reign a second line centre they could rely on, but instead I become the Dynamo's top line man."

"I don't know how it'll effect my play, but I suspect that I won't be an effective centre right off the bat. Switching from a natural winger into a centre, it is going to be challenging, but a challenge I welcome. If I succeed, I give Davos the ability to put me anywhere on an offensive line. On the left side, down the middle or the right side; to be dynamic is the goal, give my coach options I suppose."

Our last question was about his contract.

Peace nodded slowly. "I'm not going to discuss my contract right now to the media, but I will reveal the Dynamo and my agent are laying down the preliminary workings of a contract but that's as much as I'll say."

We shook hands and left, what Peace did after that - and we hope it was hit the gym - we're unsure of.
