Name: Kolur Bjoernsson

Hometown: Reykjavik, Iceland

Date of Birth: April 1, 1996

Height: 6'6"

Weight: 212 lbs

Position: Goaltender

Drafted: Signed as Undrafted FA by Minnesota Storm

CAREER SUMMARY

Bjoernsson began playing ice hockey as a child in Iceland. He quickly developed as a talented goaltender and his potential was recognized right away. Because of this, he left Iceland where there is little opportunity to be discovered in hockey. Kolur moved in with a host family in the United States, dominating high school hockey in Minnesota. Immediately out of high school, Bjoernsson signed to play NCAA hockey at Lake Superior State University. Starting between the pipes for four years as a Laker, Bjoernsson recorded a career save percentage of .938 and led the team to four straight WCHA conference championships. In addition to these titles, the LSSU Lakers won the national championship during Bjoernsson's senior season. Now freshly signed to a VHLM roster, Bjoernsson will look to work his way into the VHL and fulfill his dream.

PLAYER STRENGTHS

Hockey IQ - Kolur Bjoernsson has a very strong understanding of the game of hockey. This is evident in his positioning as a goaltender. Bjoernsson nearly always knows where he needs to be in the crease to give himself the best chance to stop any puck sent towards his net. He is also rarely beaten on fast breaks, often knowing exactly how to read the skater's intentions in order to make the stop. Bjoernsson's ability to read opposing formations and positioning on Power Plays also makes him a very effective penalty killer.

Work Ethic - Kolur Bjoernsson is a very dedicated and determined player. His life revolved almost completely around hockey once he moved to the USA and he became engrossed in his training and practicing. Kolur is always striving to improve his abilities and can always find a way to critique even his most impressive performances. He's always willing to stay on the ice after practice as long as there's someone there to shoot pucks at him.

Size - Kolur Bjoernsson stands at 6'6" and has long arms and legs. His length allows him to be a bit more risky when predicting which way a shooter will go, as he can reach far the other way to snag the puck if he's wrong. His long arms also allow him to use his stick very effectively to poke check skaters and break up cross-crease passes.

PLAYER WEAKNESSES

Skating - Kolur Bjoernsson has always played goalie and never developed into a strong skater. This affects his game primarily when he comes out the crease to collect pucks that opposing penalty killers send down to his end of the ice. He sometimes has trouble quickly returning to his crease after these situations, leaving his net vulnerable if the puck is turned over to his opponents. It also takes him a bit longer than the average goalie to get to the bench during delayed penalties.

Puck Handling - Kolur Bjoernsson's stick skills could certainly be improved, regarding his puck handling outside of the crease. He has been known to turn the puck over on occasion when a strong forecheck catches him in possession of the puck.

Leadership - Kolur Bjoernsson is still adjusting to life in a new country, even after being in the United States for a number of years now. Cultural differences and leaving his life behind in Iceland caused him to grow into a reserved, quiet person here in America. While he contributes greatly to his team on the ice, he's not a great presence in the locker room.

I love everything about this. The history of his game, the stats, the picture. It shows that you put a lot of effort into this.

You didn't focus on player stats here, which is great! You've translated your character into a living, breathing person, and provided info that reads like an actual scouting report on a player using relatable layman's terms.

I can't find any faults in this report. Great job!
