The San Diego Marlins started off their inaugural season with a tough slate, managing to go 2-2-1 in their first 5 games. Some games were close, while others not so much, including a 7-1 beat down by the hands of the Reapers.

Throughout all these games, a nice thing to see is the steady play of rookie C Scotty BigShotty. Through the first 5 games, he has 1 goal, 1 assist, and is currently tied for the team lead in +/- at +3. Although it is early in his career, Scotty has started off on the third line, not seeing a lot of ice time, and not playing any special teams, but maybe that should change. Perhaps some of his defensive ability could be of some use with some PK time.

When asked if he feels he should be getting more ice time, Scotty replied with "Well as a rookie I'm just trying to go out and help the team in whatever way I can, and take what Im given when it comes to that. But that being said, I thing I've had a good showing in these first 5 games, and I feel like I can be trusted with any extra responsibility that the coaching staff decides to give me."

An interesting and poised answer from a young rookie, perhaps the coaching staff will feel the need to shake things up a bit after a middling start to the season, and maybe then Scotty will get his chance.
