It’s been a good season so far for the Riga Reign. The Latvian team is built on young talent (Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Anthony Matthews, Arnor Sigurdsson, Mikko Aaltonen, etc.) and proven stars (Edwin Preencarnacion, Ryan Kastelic, Podrick Cast, Cayden Saint, etc.). Throughout 12 games, the Reign are 8-3-1, with goalie Kallis Kriketers starring with a .921 save percentage and 2.39 goals against average. Kastelic leads the team in points with 16, with Latvian power forward Randoms not far behind on 12 points. When asked about the team’s performance, GM Benjamin Zeptenbergs praised Kastelic. “Ryan has been our top defenseman for the past couple of years, and he looks to have transformed into a league wide superstar this season. He’s led our team to our current record.” The Reign are one of the surprises of the season (Malmo is doing them one better at the moment) and could be seen as cup favorites.
