Hans Gruber plays a limited role on a fairly loaded team. He’s got veteran forwards such as Beau Louth, Jake Davis and Rauno Palo ahead of him. Even young players like Gritty and fellow rookies Jagr and Freeman have a jump on him in TPE. So with a mix of 3rd and 4th line minutes, Gruber has had to make the best of his chances. He’s got three goals and four assists in 14 games. Despite his decent start, Gruber needs to tighten up his defensive game as he’s a -6 to start the year. But at 271 TPE and growing, Gruber is a player who should come into his own after a bit and have a few big seasons on the horizon.

On on the bright side, he’s on a Wolves team that is built well to succeed. With the veterans mentioned above playing another two or three years, this gives time for the youth to grow and replace them without missing a beat. If the core can stay together, including this years rookie crop, the Wolves could be competitive for years to come.
