Upon conclusion of the VHLM Trade Deadline, I decided to go over the trades made by the teams in the week leading up to it. Here's my look at everything that went down and who came out on top.

Trade #1

HFX_bar.png

Acquires:

Emil Passerelli (198 TPE)

LVA_bar.png

Acquires:

Jad Clapperton (47 TPE)

S68 HFX 1st

Halifax gave up a first-round pick for a near capped player. The cost is high, but that's about the going rate lately.. Passerelli has since gone inactive, which, while bad for the league, could be good for Halifax’s future. Las Vegas picks up some potential help for S68.

Trade Winner: Halifax

Trade #2

Acquires:

Andreas Sundell (141 TPE)

OSL_bar.png

Acquires:

Khalabib Stiopic (32 TPE)

S67 MIS 3rd

Mississauga looks to fill in a fairly empty defensive core and picked up a strong inactive defender. Minnesota starts their string of trades to get ready for the next season and picks up an early-mid 3rd round pick. Sundell has recently shown back up so this may become a steal for Mississauga if they can get him to stay active.

Trade Winner: Mississauga

Trade #3

Acquires:

BALLS McZehrl (141 TPE)

OSL_bar.png

Acquires:

Lexington Lewis (54 TPE)

S67 SDM 3rd

S67 SDM 8th

San Diego looks to pick up a third line center while Minnesota picks up more picks. McZehrl has a weird build, making him not worth as much as an asset. San Diego gets an inactive third liner who will likely be around next season. Minnesota deepens their draft ability and gets a fourth line inactive. IR says it best “Fairly simple, I wanted C, I get C, gg”.

Trade Winner: Minnesota

Trade #4

SD_TeamBar_QrXOO7G.png

Acquires:

Rhys Chism (219 TPE)

S68 PHI 5th

PHI_bar.png

Acquires:

Scotty BigShotty (134 TPE)

S67 SDM 2nd

S67 OTT 4th

Everyone knew a trade was coming for Rhys Chism but no one knew where it would come from. San Diego makes a move to be more competitive this season by upgrading their center again and get a first-line-worthy player. They downgrade a pick and move it back a year. Philadelphia downgrades their center but BigShotty may be around another season. They pick up a 2nd round pick and move a 5th to a 4th.  This is the big trade of the trade deadline.

Trade Winner: Philadelphia

Trade #5

SSK_bar.png

Acquires:

Vladimir Pavlov (197 TPE)

OSL_bar.png

Acquires:

Brendan Plunkett (78 TPE)

Hayden Clarkson (53 TPE)

Raphael Nazarians (128 TPE)

S68 SSK 5th

Saskatoon picks up a first line center to help their run for the cup. Minnesota gets a career inactive, a low inactive, an undrafted active and a late pick next season. This will help Minnesota in the front half of their next season while Saskatoon looks for rewards now.

Trade Winner: Saskatoon

Trade #6

OSL_bar.png

Acquires:

Michael McConway (46 TPE) RETIRED

Tony Mac (32 TPE)

S67 MIN 2nd

S67 PHI 7th

PHI_bar.png

Acquires:

Boone Jenton (TPE 191)

Minnesota and Philadelphia start the first of a chain of trades between the two teams. This trade is really just a 2nd and 7th for Boone Jenton. Jenton will fill a first or second line spot on Philly’s deep roster.

Trade Winner: Minnesota

Trade #7

OSL_bar.png

Acquires:

Logan Swallow (38 TPE)

S67 PHI 2nd

PHI_bar.png

Acquires:

Mat Tocco (253 TPE)

S67 MIN 5th

Minnesota manages to move another big player for assets rather than letting them rot. Picking up a late 2nd round pick for a player moving up and a mid-early 5th. Philadelphia gains another capped player for their playoff run.

Trade Winner: Even

Trade #8

OSL_bar.png

Acquires:

Peter Schilling (34 TPE)

S67 PHI 6th

PHI_bar.png

Acquires:

Anthony Hawk (97 TPE)

S67 PHI 7th

Purely a developmental move, Hawk was moved to finish his season with his buddy Tocco. Hawk will enter the VHLM draft this season. Minnesota moves up a round pick wise.

Trade Winner: Anthony Hawk

Trade #9

OSL_bar.png

Acquires:

S67 SSK 1st

PHI_bar.png

Acquires:

S67 PHI 2nd

S67 MIS 3rd

Jesus Christ they won’t stop, will they? Philadelphia moves a 1st rounder which would’ve been necessary to comply with the rules and Minnesota gives up a late 2nd and mid-3rd to get it.

Trade Winner: Even
