TheLastOlympian07 2,388
The New York Americans and the Vancouver Wolves finished the season very close in points. The winner moves on to play the Calgary Wranglers. Not much separates the two teams so far as the series is tied 1-1. Let's look at what what happened. Game 1 - New York Americans 4 - Vancouver Wolves 3 This game came down to the wire with the New York Americans coming out on top with a 4-3 win in Vancouver. The Americans jumped out with a 1-0 lead just 1:16 into the game on a goal from Piotr Jerwa which was assisted by Carles Puigdemont. 11 minutes later, Kisshan Shan made it 2-0 with assisted going to Carles (his 2nd of the night) and Maximillian Kirbsson. Beau Louth and Jagger Philliefan took the only two penalties of the game so far. The Americans managed to out shoot the Wolves 15-8. The 2nd period saw the shots even up a little more but still the Americans had the 13-11 advantage. Leph Twinger made it 3-0 with another quik goal at 2:44 with assists going to Joel Ylonen and Dan Wilinsky. Vancouver was finally able to answer back as Beau Louth scored just 1:02 after Twinger made it 3-0. The lone assist went to Konstantin Mulligan. At the halfway mark, Jake Davis scored his first of the series with assists going to Shawn Glade and Hans Gruber. Gritty and Shawn Glade took penalties while Joseph McWolf took one to send NYA's only player to the sin bin so far. New York would make it 4-2 and put the game out of reach it seems 4:10 into the 3rd on the PP. Kirbsson scored from Joseph McWolf and Piotr Jerwa. Vancouver would come within a goal as Julius Freeman scored on the PP from Beau Louth. Mulligan and Philliefan (2nd penalty of the game) were sent to the sin bin while McWolf (his 2nd) and Kirbsson were sent to NYA sin bin. The Shots were in favor of NYA who had 18 in the period to Vancouver's 11. In the end, Roger Sterling did his best stopping 42 of 46 shots while Ismond Kingfisher was suspect stopping 27 of 30. Leph Twinger claimed first star, Carles Puigdemont 2nd and Beau Louth was 3rd. It was a close game thanks to Sterling who made over 40 saves, the depth of Vancouver will need to step up with they want to pull through though. Game 2 - Vancouver Wolves 3 - New York Americans 1 With Game 1 in the books, the focus shifted to Game 2 and the Wolves came out hungry after a disappointing performance. The Wolves out shot the Americans 11-8 in the first. Gritty opened up his series with a goal while Hans Gruber picked up assist number 2. Jagger Philliefan picked up a penalty (3rd of the series) while Leph Twinger and Joel Ylonen were sent to NYA sin bin to think about what they did. No scoring took place in the 2nd period but Jagger Philliefan took 2 more penalties bringing his series total to 5 and Beau Louth took a penalty. However, the Americans were only able to get 9 shots off but Vancouver only had 7 in response. Jake Davis scored his 2nd goal of the series to take this to a 2-0 lead. Konstantin Mulligan (2) and Shawn Glade (2) got the assists. Leph Twinger (2) made it interesting at the halfway mark to make it 2-1 with assists going to Piotr Jerwa (2) and Joel Ylonen (2). Julius Freeman (2) put the icing on the cake though to make it 3-1 with assists going to Jake Davis (1) and Shawn Glade (3). Interestingly enough, there were no penalties. Vancouver had all the pressure out shooting the Americans 14-4 in the period. To end the game, Roger Sterling made 20 saves on 21 shots to preserve the win while Ismond Kingfisher stopped 29 of 32 shots. Jake Davis was named the 1st star followed by Konstantin Mulligan and Shawn Glade being 2nd and 3rd. Overall - Vancouver Wolves 6 GF - New York Americans 5 GF The Vancouver Wolves have out scored the Americans by 1 goal so far. New York though has but 67 shots on goals while Vancouver has put 62 shots toward Ismond Kingfisher. So this series is way to close to call right now. We will see how this turns out in the future but the bias is me is leaning toward Vancouver being the better team.
