SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN -- The Saskatoon Wild have disassembled their core.

Milan Griffin and Roadkill Steve were traded to San Diego in a startling trade by the Marlins, acquiring the star Wild players for a first and second round picks for the season sixty nine VHLM dispersal draft; Kefka Palazzo and Tormud Giantsbane were traded to Minnesota for Ondrej Ohradka, a first round draft pick and two third round draft picks along with an inactive player; and finally the Wild traded Anthony Amberback and John Perdue to the Ottawa Lynx in return for a first and second round draft pick.

The Ottawa Lynx's second round pick is for season sixty eight, but GM Peace can work around that - the rest of the picks add to an impressive pile the Wild now own for season sixty seven, including four first round selections supported by two second round picks and a further [/b]three third round picks[/b]. Currently VHLM rules dictate a team can only own a maximum of three first and second round picks at the VHLM level, but with the expansions recently, the rule may change.

The Saskatoon Wild also picked up an immediately productive prospect shortly after when Jeff Tates signed with the junior team. In Tates six VHLM games, he has recorded a goal and four assists for five points. Impressive for a kid just entering the league.

While Saskatoon may stumble and fall for the next two seasons, they're focusing on providing a stable and reliable management team their prospects can feel comfortable around and develop at their own pace.
